Letter of Reference for Ms. Jaimi Litus School
09.05.2017 Stuttgart
Ms. Litus joined the Language A department at the International School of Stuttgart in 2016 to
teach both MYP grades 7,8,9 and 10 in addition to Diploma Language B English. She engaged well
with her MYP colleagues to prepare for the self-study visit by the IBO in the fall by updating the
units of study as well as collaborating in committee to complete reflection on our program delivery.
As part of my job, I visited her classroom to observe lessons and interaction with students. Ms,
Litus demonstrated an impressive relationship with her students during class discussion. The
interactions indicate a mutual respect and shared interest in the learning outcomes.
Lessons observed demonstrate a clear structure using a variety of approaches using a range of both
static and interactive media, Written instructions are clearly explained prior to assigning a task.
Any follow-up detail- and reinforcing-questions are answered in concise language with examples
provided. Once students begin the assignment Ms, Litus circulates throughout the class to ensure
that the weaker students are all on task and to challenge the stronger students to extend their
thinking beyond basic expectations of the criteria sheet.
Formative and summative assignments containing Ms. Litus’ supportive and instructive comments
are returned to students in a timely manner.
Bulletin boards are updated in a timely manner to demonstrate learning during the unit of study to
highlight the learning objectives and summative assessment expectations, Ms, Litus continually
updates the displays with current student work, additional visual discussion prompts, sample
discussion questions and theme-related decorations to provide an attractive display.
‘When not teaching in the classroom Ms. Litus is readily available both electronically and in person
for any student questions, problems and assistance. She appears to be very comfortable working
with high school students and enjoys a mutually communicative relationship with parents.
Ms. Litus enjoys a positive relationship with her line manager and director as well as a collegial
relationship with her peers in the school. She has become a valued member of the department and
she will be missed.
