ABSTRACT

Background : Obesity cause by imbalance between consume and used calories. Causes of
this imbalance is due to increased energy intake and decreased physical activity. Obesity can
be a risk factor for diseases due to metabolic disorders such as Coronary Heart Disease,
Ischemic Stroke and Type 2 Diabetes. The purpose of this study is to determine the overview
of fasting blood glucose in obese employees in the Office of Cooperative Jambi Province.
Method : The type of research used is descriptive qualitative analysis. This research was
conducted at Jambi Province Cooperation Office in May 2018. This research data was
obtained directly at the time of the research.
Result : The result shows that employees with the category of Body Mass Index (BMI) on
Obesity I is the highest at 72.2%, Obesity II at 11.4%. Employees with the age category 46-
55 years with the highest at 29.5%, while the age category 17 - 25 years with the lowest at
6.8%. Female have a higher percentage on obesity (59.1%). Female employees with higher
health risk Waist-Hip Ratio (RLPP) 31,8%, male employees 25.0%, and which have Waist-
Hip Ratio (RLPP) normal is higher on male (25.0%), while female (18.2%). Employees with
normal fasting blood glucose level (59.1%) while high fasting blood sugar (40.9%).
Conclusion : From this research we conclude increase of blood glucose level does not affect
by obesity.
