Special Communication
for District Commissioners
Respected Comissioner:
‘There are a number of interesting points concerning which we wish
to give you instructions at this time.
First, regarding the Lemuria film: A number of District Commis-
sioners have written asking that we send them literature describing
the Lemuria film so that they can describe it to theater managers.
Now we have no euch literature, because this Lemuria film is not like
the commercial releases which the theaters receive and which have a
lot of advertising matter concerning them, and billboards, and so
forth. This is a privately produced film, and since it was not made
for profit or for commercial uses, no money was spent in getting up
elaborate circular matter. You can briefly explain 1t to ‘them as
‘ollow
It 1s a film depicting the existence of the lost continent that
wos once in the center of the Pacific Ocean. ‘The first scenes of the
film show pictures taken 1n other foreign countries of the same type
Lemuria, showing the class of people and the type of homes and
buildings.’ Then 1t shows scenes of earthquakes_and tidal waves and
storms of the type and kind that caused the continent of Lemuria to
sink, and it shows actual living persons being drowned in great storms
and tidal waves and earthquakes. These scenes are not made from small
model settings but were taken actually in sections of the world during
such terrific catastrophes. Then it shows how volcanoes and the lava
destroyed cities, and finally of the sinking of the continent beneath
the water and how some people escaped on rafts, small boats, logs of
wood and otherwise, and how they swam or floated to the shores of
Norther America and escaped to live along the Pacific Coast of Cali~
fornia and continued their existence there. It is the firet and only
film of its kind that has ever been made.
The next important point is in regard to duo-membership, or the
double membership for man and wife. A great many of our District Com-
missioners say that they are often asked about this, and would like
some definite information. We are enclosing herewith a little pamphletPage
that describes this duo-membership. Please read it carefully and be
familiar with what it 1s. You will note that the two persons study
from the same monographs and read the same magazine each month, and
therefore pay a reduced amount of money as dues, paying only $2.50
instead of $4.00, but each one holds a membership card and has all
the rights and privileges of personal instruction, the answering of
letters, and guidance and welfare help, etc. By eliminating the cost
of one set of monographs each week and the monthly magazine, we are
passing that saving on to the members in duo-membership. You will
find many husbands and wives who will want to Join together who would
not want to Join separately.
The next thing to which we wish to call your attention is the
enclosed folder dealing with the subject of recognition of the Order.
Please note what.is said on the first page of this pamphlet and then
read carefully the fine things that are said in some of the largest
encyclopedias of America. Such recognition as this in these wonderful
encyclopedias proves that AMORC must be exactly what it claims to be.
You will note that Mr. Clymer's organization and the other organiza-
tions that claim to be "Rosicrucian" are not mentioned in these
encyclopedias. And the newspaper clippings on the outside of the
book show how the newspapers all over America are always glad to say
something about the Rosicrucians, and always in the most dignified
manner. By having one of these recognition books handy, you can show
anyone, whoever argues with you that AMORC is not the real organiza-
tion or that they never heard of it, that the organization is well-
known. Later on this year one of these recognition books will be sent
to every member in the Order. Hold fast to your copy.
Some District Commissioners write to us and say that they would
like to know whether persons whom they have interviewed and interested
in our Order have become members or not. There is only one way by
which we can give this information, and that is to have you, as a
District Commissioner, send us, at any time,a list of the names and
addresses of the persons whom you have interviewed and we will check
up this list and let you know how many of them have become members.
You do not have to do this unless you want to know about the success
of your work, 1t.is.gquite a little task to search our records for the
maMes and addresses of these persons and check them, but we will be
very glad to do so if this information will be helpful to you at any
time. But without such a list sent to us, or to the Department of
Extension, it cannot be checked.
The work of the organization is going to grow very rapidly this
coming year. The importance of the voting that took place at the
Convention this past July will not be realized by our members until
later on this fall and winter. But it was one of the most important
Conventions we have ever held and the voting will have an important
bearing upon our future propaganda.
We have reached a position now where about one-half of the new
members that come into the organization each year are brought in
through the personal solicitation of active members. The other half
of the new ones come in through our advertising and indirect propaganda.
Year by year the number of members coming in through the personal re-Page
commendation of our members is increasing, and of course this will
continue to increase year after year. The two big things that will
help our propaganda more than anything else this coming year are the
results of the voting at the last Convention, which absolutely "killea"
all of the malicious attacks of the few enemies and their campaign by
letters all over the country; and secondly, the fact that so many of
the encyclopedias and reference books in the libraries throughout the
world now say very fine things about AMORG, whereas they used to have
nothing in them at all because the Rosicrucians used to operate so
secretly that they did not allow the encyclopedias to have any exact
information.
And, of course, as the organization grows in strength the more
we will be able to do for our members. Month after month and year
after year in the past three or four years we have added new features
to.our lessons, monographs and-activities, and we will continue this
until the ANORG system of instruction will be the finest and most com
plete in the world. It really is that right now, but we want to do
More and give more, and we will do this according to the increasing
strength of the organization. Remember, we do not measure our strength
by Just numbers of members but by the quality of the membership. That
is why there is a constant weeding out, and each year sees the simply
curiosity seekers and casilly interested ones drop by the wayside. All
of them are helped a little, but since they are not sincere enough they
cannot be greatly helped. This leaves the residue of the membership,
composed of really sincere and serious students, who are doing their
utmost to make their lives better and to help others to do so.
Your cooperation, therefore, as a District Commissioner 1s great-
ly appreciated, and if there are any additional helps we can give you
from time to time, do not hesitate to send for them.
With all good wishes for Peace Profound, we are
Sincerely and fraternally,
ROSICRUCIAN ORDER (AMORC)

it will be an honor to show this very often in the future years.
