Transmission Control Unit (TCU) Calibration with 700 or Higher Software

Transmission Control Unit (TCU) Calibration with 700 or Higher Software

1. IMPORTANT:

Calibrate whenever transmission components are adjusted or replaced.

A pump null adjustment must be made before calibration following pump repair. See Pump Displacement
Control Valve Neutral Adjustment . (Group 9026-25.)

NOTE:

Machine software number and model number can be accessed with key switch on. Press CAL
button once. A three digit machine software number will display, followed by machine model
number, and machine hours.

NOTE:

Perform this procedure on level ground with enough room to accelerate to full speed for 8—20
seconds, or with machine off ground supported by blocks.

If machine will not pass calibration on blocks, repeat calibration with machine on ground.

Begin Calibration Procedure

a. Remove TCU cover.

b. Warm machine to normal operating temperature. Perform Transmission Oil Warm-Up Procedure . (Group 9026-
25.)

c. Check engine speed. See Engine Speed Adjustment—750C or Engine Speed Adjustment—850C . (Group 9010-
20.)

d. Make reference point on engine speed control lever at approximately 1500 rpm.

e. Move engine speed control lever to slow idle stop.

f. Turn key switch off.

g. Press and hold decelerator pedal.

h. Hold CAL button down and start engine.

i. Release CAL button 5 seconds after engine starts. A three digit software number will appear on monitor display,
followed by machine model number, and finally the letter P indicating park lock levers are in the UP position
(locked).

The CHECK SERVICE CODE indicator light will be flashing.

j. NOTE:

Characters 4 E will be flashing on machines equipped with 600 software. Wait until 4 E stops
flashing before proceeding.

Lower park lock levers. The monitor will display flashing 4 E .

2. IMPORTANT:

Each lever or pedal must be moved slowly through its full calibration travel holding to the detent or stop
position until monitor display changes, or a service code may occur during normal machine operation. The
decelerator pedal must be pressed to lower stop and held there, decelerator slow idle stop may be 100 rpm
different than speed control lever slow idle stop.

Calibrate Decelerator Sensor (B9) and Engine Speed

a. Press decelerator pedal slowly to lower stop and hold there.

b. Wait until 4 E stops flashing.

c. Release the decelerator pedal.

d. Slowly move engine speed control lever from slow idle to fast idle stop and hold until 4 E goes out.

e. Return engine speed control lever to slow idle.

3.
T108557-19: Monitor Display

Calibrate Transmission Speed Control Sensor or Switch (B12)

The monitor display will display 2 6 7 .

a. For machines with transmission speed in grip : Press the transmission speed control switch on FNR lever up
and then down.

For machines with transmission speed control lever : Slowly move transmission speed control lever from 1-
to-3 and back to 1.

b. The 7 will go out.

4.
T108558-19: Monitor Display

Calibrate Steer Sensor (B20)

a. The monitor display will display 2 6 .

b. IMPORTANT:

FNR lever must be moved all the way to point of increased resistance for both left and right steer
even if the number 6 goes out before full lever travel is reached.

Slowly move steer lever right to point of increased resistance (stop track) then release. Do not go past point of
increased resistance (stop track) into counter rotate.

c. Slowly move steer lever left to point of increased resistance (stop track) then release. Do not go past point of
increased resistance (stop track) into counter rotate.

The 6 will go out.

5.
T8424BU-19: Monitor Display

T8424BV-19: Monitor Display

Calibrate FNR Sensor (B11), Front Pump PCP (B18), and Rear Pump PCP (B17)

a. The monitor display will display number 2 .

b. Set engine speed control lever at approximately 1500 rpm.

c.

Prevent possible injury from unexpected machine movement. Make sure area around
machine is clear of all bystanders, machine may move during this portion of calibration. If
TCU does not detect a signal from motor speed sensors machine may move significantly.

Slowly move FNR into forward beyond detent to contact mechanical stop.

The monitor display will display 2 L r .

Página 4 de 6

After 15—70 seconds, the left track will move slightly and stop, and the L will go out. After an additional 15—70
seconds the right track will move slightly and stop, and the r will go out.

d. IMPORTANT:

Do not return FNR to neutral until the RETURN FNR TO NEUTRAL indicator light starts flashing.

T8424BW-19: Monitor Display

When the RETURN FNR TO NEUTRAL indicator light starts flashing, slowly move FNR lever from forward to
neutral.

e. Move FNR from neutral to reverse beyond detent to contact mechanical stop.

The 2 will go out and monitor display will display L r .

After 15—70 seconds, the left track will move slightly and stop, and the L will go out. After an additional 15—70
seconds the right track will move slightly and stop, and the r will go out. The monitor display should be blank.

f. IMPORTANT:

Do not return FNR to neutral until the RETURN FNR TO NEUTRAL indicator light starts flashing.

When the RETURN FNR TO NEUTRAL indicator light starts flashing, return FNR lever to neutral position.

g. Move engine speed control lever to slow idle.

6.
T8353AA-19: Monitor Display

Calibrate Maximum Ground Speed

a. Press CAL button on TCU once.

IMPORTANT:

From this point on, if key switch is turned off before maximum ground speed calibration is
completed, default values for maximum ground speed will exist. For optimum machine performance
maximum ground speed calibration must be completed.

If the word Good is displayed press CAL button once again.

b. NOTE:

Remaining portion of calibration will be done while driving the machine on level ground with
enough room to accelerate to full speed for approximately 46—61 m (150—200 ft). Machine
can be moved to an open area without failing calibration. Machine can be steered and
shuttled from forward to reverse to attain maximum ground speed for calibration.

Monitor display will display F r F r .

If numbers or letters other than F r F r are displayed, repeat calibration procedure. If numbers or letters appear
after recalibrating, see Calibration Service Codes—Single Lever Steer . (Group 9015-20.) The condition should
be corrected and the calibration procedure should be repeated.

NOTE:

If the number 7 or letter E display, it is possible to continue with high speed calibration by
pressing CAL once again. After completion of calibration the condition should be corrected.

c.

Prevent possible injury from unexpected machine movement. Fasten seat belt and alert
bystanders to stay clear before performing high speed calibration. Tracks will move at full
speed.

Move engine speed control lever to fast idle.

d. For machines with transmission speed in grip : Press transmission speed control switch up and hold for five
seconds to ensure that maximum ground speed setting is attained.

For machines with transmission speed control lever : Move transmission speed control lever to maximum
speed position.

e. Depress decelerator pedal.

f. Move FNR lever into forward.

g. Slowly release decelerator pedal.

h. Both of the F s will go out within 8—20 seconds as each track reaches maximum speed. The RETURN FNR TO
