1 PROJECT STATUS REPORT PURPOSE

The Project Status Report is a document that Project Managers may use as
a means of formal regular reporting on the status of a project to key project
stakeholders and to the members of the higher hierarchy of the
organization.

2 Status Template
2.1 Objective
The objective of the project is to give the users a virtual experience of the
stock market where the user need not deal with real money for a certain
period of time.

2.2 Scope
The user will be able to grasp the concept of stock market quickly because
of the user interface and the concept of virtuality.
The module delivers reliability since the transactions are hypothetical.

2.3 Module Description

A new user has to sign up for the module and he will be given a 30 day trial
period to explore and use all the functionalities of the product. He can Buy
and sell stocks, manage his investment portfolio etc. There is a counter
which keeps track of the number of days left for the user to use the module.
This is done by storing the sign up date in the database and comparing it to
the system date. The user will be able to see the number of days left.

2.4 Challenges
The main challenge was due to the fact that there was interdependency
between our module and other teams. Therefore coordinating and procuring
the modules from other teams ahead of the deadlines was not easy .

2.5 Features

The features we have incorporated in the module are

 Portfolio Management
Portfolio management or investment management is crucial for

individual investors as well as for investment companies and

corporations. Portfolio management helps the investors and
companies achieving their particular investment targets. For the
investors, the goal is to achieve higher profits and widening of capital
stock. Apart from this, investment management or portfolio
management also includes services like in-depth financial analysis,
and stock selection and proper monitoring of investments. It is is
helpful in investing in the right stock at the right time. Hence, with
proper investment portfolios, investors can be assured that their
investment returns are maximized to the maximum extent.

 Get Quotes
This is a feature where if you type in the ticker of the company in the
text box, you will get all the details of that stock including last trade
value, current share value, market capital, bid value etc.

 SIP Tracking
Systematic investment plan allows you to take part in the stock
market without trying to second-guess its movement. When the
Market price of shares fall, the investor benefits by purchasing more
units and is protected by purchasing less when the price rises.

3.Project Outline

A stock market is used for the trading of shares of company stock at an agreed
price; These are share values are listed on a stock market. The share values of
the stocks may change anytime subject to market risks. Hence Investors must be
very careful in investing shares so as to not incur loss. There are many tips and
tricks to stock market which users keep in mind before investing. To make profit,
some experience in the stock market is necessary.

For a new user the stock market may feel like legalized gambling. The user may
feel confused as to which shares to invest and when to invest. Due to the
unpredictable nature of the stock market the user may even feel nervous to
invest since he is dealing with real money.

To overcome this sense of insecurity, we have created a module called “Touring

Options”, where we have created an virtual experience of the stock market. The
users can use the virtual money and buy and sell stock without the fear of
incurring losses.

4.Effective Management

End Users will find our module helpful mainly because they will get an
exposure of the all the features of the complete product. Users need to
register separately for ‘Touring Options’ apart from registering in main
stock market system. This module is like a trial version of any product
where the user will be allowed to use the module for a maximum period of
30 days. During this period, the module is designed to allow the user to
explore all the abilities of the product without actually dealing with real
money thus giving users a virtual and pragmatic feel.

5.Executive Summary

The Touring Options Module is a complete, full-featured, robust package

that meets the needs and helps most inexperienced or new investors .This
module is fully functional, and has all the essential features of the stock
market system but has certain limited features. For example we have not
incorporated features like ‘Best Deal of the Day’ and ‘Astrologer
Comments’ which are a part of the product. Since the objective of the
module was to make the users feel comfortable with the concept of stock
market and having cash transactions, we did not feel it necessary to
include such supplementary features.
