1.0 PURPOSE

1.1 The purpose of this Method Statement is to describe step by step the procedure for the
installation of lighting fixtures.

2.0 SCOPE

2.1 The scope of this Method Statement is to define the sequence and methodology for the
installation of Lighting Fixture.

3.0 TOOLS AND RESOURCES

3.1 Electrician Tool Box


3.2 Drill Machine with bits
3.3 Tele Platforms
3.4 Electrical Extension Cord
3.5 Step Ladder

4.0 RESPONSIBILITIES

4.1 PROJECT MANAGER

4.1.1 Is responsible for ensuring that all works are carried out as per the specifications,
drawing/shop drawings and method statement as per the manufacturer instructions,
coordinated with other works and will plan for the required manpower and tools for
all activities.

4.2 SITE ENGINEERS/ SUPERVISOR

4.2.1 Ensure the site team is aware of Installation of Light Fittings.


4.2.2 Check periodically that the job is executed safely and following the standards.
4.2.3 Ensure that the installation complies with the approved shop drawings/specifications.
4.2.4 Maintain records of work done and submit the progress report to the authorities
concerned.

4.2.5 Follow the ITP procedures and co-ordinate with the QA/QC team for inspections.

4.3 SUPERVISOR / FORMAN

4.3.1 Foreman shall be responsible for but not limited to the following important activities:

4.3.1.1 To guide and control the tradesmen and charge-hands(s).

4.3.1.2 To ensure that work is done as per the approved shop drawing(s).

4.3.1.3 To report to the MEP site engineer.

4.4 QA/QC ENGINEERS

4.4.1 Carry out the material inspection to ensure that materials received on site are approved
materials.

4.4.2 Monitored the installation works according to the approved drawings and method
statement.

4.4.3 Coordinate with the ENGINEERS and EMPLOYERS REPRESENTATIVE to carry out
inspection/testing of the completed works.

4.5 HSE OFFICER

4.5.1 Ensure that all installation or construction works will be carried out in accordance with the
ENGINEERS safety manual and EMPLOYERS REPRESENTATIVE standard
regulations and practices.

4.5.2 Ensure that all necessary permits shall be obtained from EMPLOYER
REPRESENTATIVE and the concerned authorities wherever necessary.

4.5.3 Ensure that good housekeeping at work site is implemented.

4.5.4 Ensure that all necessary personnel protective equipment will be provided as per the
requirement of the job.

4.5.5 Ensure that usage of cranes, lifting items and working platforms will be used in
accordance with the ENGINEERS and EMPLOYERS REPRESENTATIVE Safety
Manual.

5.0 PROCEDURE

5.1 GENERAL

5.1.1 All material received at site store shall be inspected, handled and stored upon receipt
in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendation.

5.1.2 The storage area will be clean and free from foreign materials to protect the materials
against damage.

5.1.3 Any damage or irregularity in the supply noted on unpacking will inform to the
proper authorities as per the standard practice.

5.1.4 Installation inspection will be carrying out as per specification.

5.1.5 The site QC Inspector in coordination will conduct inspection with


Engineer/Employer Representative prior to submitting Inspection and/or Test Request
to the Engineer/Employer Representative.

5.1.6 Inspection for the Engineer/Employer Representative shall be arranged accordingly.

5.2 FIXING OF LIGHT FIXTURES

5.2.1 Clean all terminal boxes and wires and make them ready for termination.
5.2.2 Fix the supporting rods properly for suspension light fittings according to shop-drawings.
5.2.3 Terminate and fix ceiling roses for light fixtures.
5.2.4 Make all places ready for light fittings where located at false ceilings by openings at false
ceiling and it must be done properly.

5.2.5 Fix all light fitting types properly according to shop-drawings. All light fittings to be
fixed aligned and at the same level in open areas.
5.2.6 Terminate all light fittings with flexible cable properly and be sure that earth wire to be
connected to earth terminals either in G.I. boxes and light fittings.
5.2.7 Put all light fitting covers properly according to each type.
5.2.8 Approvals for sample installations shall be obtained.
5.2.9 Light fittings at high level in the hangar area shall be fixed using man lift.
5.2.10 Adequate support system shall be installed prior of light fittings hanging
5.2.11 Light fitting at high level in the hanger area shall be using man lift.
