tested.Additionaltested havebeenconductedat B.H.P.ResearchLaboratoriesMelbourne.Designedfor horizontalopening
nominally3045 x 760 mmqualified for a 4 hour ratingfor fire resistancein terms of Australia Standard1530--Part4 1975

Furthertestsin accordancewithAustralianStandard1682--resultedinthe RuskinFireDamperprovingto be an effectivesmoke

barrierfor usein low andhighvelocitysystems.

Furthermore, Ruskin Fire Dampers have been in the U.K. (to 476) and the U.S.A. (to a rating of UL 11/2 her.) and
approvedbythe governingbodiesin thesecountries.

Single moduledampersare provided up to 1200x 1200 mm for vertical mounting and up 1015x 750 mm for horizontal
mounting.MultiModuledamperswouldbe providedfor verticalmountingin the size range1200x 1200mmto 2400x 2400
mmandverticalmountingup to 3045x 760mm.

Sizes larger than the maximum tested sizes or with features contravening the test codes, are not available.

CONSTRUCTION
The componentsof the standard RuskinFire Damperare fabricatedfrom galvabondsteel.
The damper casing is roll formed to give two continuous internal flanges, spaced apart to allow the damper blades
to travel freely. These blades are constructed from 1 mm steel, roll formed on both edges to form a continuous
interlocking hinge. The blades are fabricated from thin stainless steel, fitted between the damper frame
flangesto give positivesmokesealingof the damperbladesin the closedposition.

The Damper blades are held in the open position by a stainless steel link strap incorporating a fusible link, fusing
at 710C. The blades of horizontally mounted dampers are closed by constant force, coil band springs.
The complete damper casing assembly is then placed into a mounting frame and riveted in position.
The mountingframeis constructedfrom 1.6 mmsteelsheetand is fitted withtwo sets of flangesto facilitatemountingof the
frame into the wall or slab. These flanges are held with coach bolts. If requiredduct damperadaptorsare fitted under the
mountingflanges.

A Ruskin Fire Damper is identified by an attached label giving, model, type, rating, release temperature and
approvalto AustralianStandard 1682.

Is available for connection to smoke detector operation and alarm, in both 24 volt and 240 volt systems.
