Noise Control
Ajax® integral engine-compressor
GE Oil & Gas offers a variety of methods for Insulation:
meeting your sound level requirements
Insulation can be added to exhaust lines and
to the exhaust silencer to reduce noise.
Noise Sources: Typically the noise reduction that insulation
provides is approximately 9 dBA.
The major sources of noise from an Ajax
integral engine compressor package are:
• Exhaust
• Silencer
• Exhaust Lines
• Air Intake
• Process and Engine Heat Air Intake Filtered Silencers:
Exchangers Filtered silencers can be utilized on the air
• Mechanical noise of the engine intake in lieu of a standard air intake
and compressor manifold.
Standard Intake 88 dBA @10ft
Exhaust Silencer: Residential Grade 80 dBA @10ft
Various grades of exhaust silencers are Critical Grade 67 dBA @10ft
available
depending on your sound level requirement Process and Engine Heat Exchangers:
Cooler design can be manipulated to reduce
• Hospital 89 dBA @10ft noise. Fan tip speed can be reduced as well
• Critical 83 dBA @10ft as the orientation (i.e. horizontal or vertical)
can affect noise output.
• Super Critical 76 dBA @10ft
