Creation of the international Metric System

The international system of units shortened as SI was created by the French in 1960
and it is a metric system of measurementThat same year was defined as the meter
that started from the wavelength of the transition between the energy levels of
krypton-86, which was changed in 1983 to take as a basis the speed of light in vacuum.
In 1967, as a result of the development of atomic clocks, the second was defined as
9192631770 the periods of radiation are the transition between hyperfine levels of the
ground state of cesium-133. In 1971 the mole was added as the seventh basic unit, to
measure the amount of substance.

After proposing several opinions, in 1790 the Académie des Sciences decided to
establish a unit to measure the length that it will call the metro, in 1793 the French
National Assembly took as a unit of mass, denominating it serious, the one of a cubic
decimeter of distilled water to an atmosphere of pressure and to the temperature of 4
0C. They ended accepting the new definition of kilogram and the other seven
fundamental system of units which each definition was connected to seven constants
but this idea didn’t take place until 2014 because several examinations were pending.
Consequently, in the XXIV General Conference of Weights and Measures it was
proposed to review the SI by this facts: the frequency of the radiation correspond to the
transition between two hyperfine levels in the fundamental state of the cesium atom,
the speed of light in vacuum, c, is exactly 299792458 m/s, the Planck constant, h, is
6,62606x 10-34 Js, the Boltzmann, k, is 1,38065x 10-23 mol-1, the Avogadro constant,
NA, is exactly 6,02214x 1023 mol-1, they changed the magnitude of the kilogram by
setting its numerical value of the Planck constant, the kelvin temperature scale will start
from the value of the Boltzmann constant, the mole will be set by the Avogadro
constant. They also reevaluated the new definitions for meter and second, in which the
second is the unit of time and its value is set by the numerical value of the radiation’s
frequency and the meter is the unit of length and its magnitude starts from the
numerical value of the speed of light, also the definition of mole breaks connection with
the definition of kilogram, making it a specific number a consequence of this change is
that the current relation between the mass of the atom 12C, the Dalton (whose symbol
is Da and is the unit of unified atomic mass, u), after this the kilogram and the constant
of Avogadro will no longer be valid.

However, the effort to improve the definition of the different units is worthy of praise.
On the other hand, the discussion about the elaborated proposals can be a good
opportunity to deal with these issues in the classroom, so that the students appreciate
that the International System of Units is not static, but evolves due to the demand for
greater accuracy. and with the advance of knowledge.
