Part 2
PRE-PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT

• Personal Philosophy of Special Education

I want to make a difference in children’s lives. I have seen our current crisis in
Las Vegas regarding lack of teachers. This has inspired me to go to school to get a
degree in elementary education. I have worked in management for eleven years or so
and management can translate to becoming a teacher also. Managing your classroom
and work load and personal life. I understand that the Clark County School District
(CCSD) is short staffed. I don’t know to much about the district itself, but from a parent
view I have some insight. I have seen too many changes in teachers throughout the
school year because CCSD has issues retaining teachers that have moved here from
out of state. Also, CCSD seems to have an issue with teachers ending up in the news.
I am undecided on my educational philosophy within special education. I do not
have a lot of background with special education, but I want to learn as much as I can to
benefit my classroom. I do believe that thanks to historical events our school education
system is improving. There is still a lot more to improve as times change.
I have not decided my individual approach for student diversity and variability.
For learning I will make sure to teach for all type of learners. Not everyone learns the
same way, so I will be sure to include for visual learners, hands on learners, and etc.
The assessments will be distributed in different ways fun and traditional ways. I will use
computer programs to keep students interested in the material.
To improve my qualities for this career, I will continue to volunteer in the
classroom and extracurricular activities to learn more about diversity in the classroom.
To be a good teacher you must have patience and good classroom management along
with time management. I have had many years of management to prepare my time
management and self-management and will apply my management of others to kids.
