2. ST. JOHN PAUL COLLEGE SEMINARY/VOCATION

Seminary Handbook

Fr. Diding reported that the Seminary Handbook is already ratified by the formators and equipped for
implementation beginning SY 2018-19.

Seminary Admission Exams

Phase I examination for admission to the seminary has been conducted already. 47 passed. Phase 2
interview exams will be on May 4-5, 2018 at 3:00 PM. Seminary maximum slot allotted only for 15
freshmen, mostly graduates of senior high school.

Pre-Theologate Program

There are five (5) young professionals entering pre-theologate formation for SY 2018. The Bishop is
sending them to Cor Jesu Seminary, Dipolog.

On Vocation Director’s office

Some priests questioned the delay of conducting the examinations. Fr. Daryl responded that they have
waited notice from Fr. Sandy Cometa being the Vocation Director for the exam. In the absence of any
notice from the former, the Seminary fathers have initiated to conducted, thus, the delay.

Fr. Cañete asked why there was no vocation campaign in the parochial schools. Fr. Malalis, on behalf of
his parish vocation committee asked the same query. Fr. Diding responded that there was no movement
nor communication to that effect from the Office of the Vocation Director.

The Seminary Fathers have proposed that to facilitate proper coordination and monitoring, it will be of
best interest that the Vocation Director be a seminary formator. Looking at the rationality of the
proposal, it behoves upon the Bishop in consultation with the BOC to talk with Fr. Sandy Cometa and the
seminary formators regarding this concern.

Fr. Lustre proposed that there be visit and vocation campaign to all schools in the province. Noted.
On the recently concluded National Vocation Convention

Since Fr. Cometa is not present today, Fr. Cometa is enjoined to present a report and evaluation on the
recently concluded convention on June 2018 Clergy meeting.

3. YOUTH

There will be a Youth Leadership Training Seminar on April 8-14, 2018 at Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur.
Trainor’s Training Seminar on Apil 15, 2018 in Iligan City. National Youth Day Echo 2018 May 27-29,
2018. Sta. Teresita Parish, Banadero, Ozamiz City.
