IV. Procedures
The teacher will introduce the lesson by having a picture or drawing of a plant at the front of the
class for every student to see. They will explain the functions of each part, and then they will
introduce the movie to the students. After watching the movie, students will be put into groups to

VII. Modifications
English Language Learners: To modify this lesson for ELL, bring in a translator to help the
Learning Disabled: This lesson is beneficial to learning disabled students because not only do
they receive information from a movie, they also will receive knowledge and perhaps a better
level of understanding from their peers. One-on-one student/teacher time will also be beneficial
to LD students because they will have quiet time to work with their teacher to better understand
the assignment.
Gifted Learners: Gifted learners could have their assignment modified by building a plant from
construction paper. A more complex, hands-on assignment will benefit a gifted learner greatly.
VIII. Assessment
After students finish their assignments, they will present their flower to the class. The teacher
will ask them questions written to decide whether they have truly understood the lesson or not.
The students will be graded on a scale from A-F, A being the highest possible grade. Students
who name all parts of the plants as well as two things it needs to survive will receive an A for
this lesson.
For homework, students will be asked to look in their own backyards for plants. They will be
required to identify at least 3 different plants, and at least 4 parts of each individual plant in their
yard. The next day, they will bring their findings to class.
