• Supports visual learners • Supports linguistic learners Lesson idea implementation: The teacher will start the lesson with the following question, “How many of you have ever heard of the Civil War?” After leading a short discussion, the teacher will play a short video from BrainPop about the Civil War. The students will be required to remember one fact from the video about the Civil War. After the video, the teacher will list the ideas from students on an anchor chart. The teacher will then assist the students in making a popplet to organize the information. Students will be divided into three groups to gather information of causes, major events, and effects of the Civil War. Students will choose which group they would like to be in and research information. The group will present their information using the delivery mode of their choice. Reflective Practice: To move this activity to a LoTi level 5, the teacher could publish the presentations to the class website. The groups could combine their presentations and share their final product with other classes on the morning newscast.
