Letter from the IB Coordinator

I’m writing this column on a Friday afternoon after a pizza party for over 90 freshmen and sopho-
mores who served as shadow-keepers for 8th graders interested in the IB program. The party was
held to thank them for being great representatives of St. Pete High and the IB program. As always,
this celebration was sponsored by the IB Boosters and organized by IB parents. The combination
of the IB Boosters and wonderful IB parents are what makes our program special for students and
teachers!
I encourage parents to get involved with the school in any capacity that fits into your schedule. The
rewards are tremendous. You will interact with other talented, smart and interesting parents, and
you may be lucky enough to interact with the best young people anywhere! The opportunities to get involved are end-
less. You can be part of a committee, work in the office, donate food for events, or chaperone a field trip, to name a few.
It takes a village to get through IB, and we want you to be part of our village!
I love this school and its traditions. After 23 years, I still get a little choked up when I hear the drum line marching
down the front hall to get the students out of class for a pep rally. This is a great place. Please consider getting involved!
