TITLE: PRE COMMISSIONING.

PRE COMMISSIONING.

1.0 PURPOSE

The purpose of this procedure is to describe the method for Air-conditioning

Equipment pre commissioning.

2.0 SCOPE

This procedure is applicable for the pre commissioning of A/c Equipment for
air conditioning purpose.

3.0 REFERENCE

3.1 QAP~050 Document & Data Control.

3.2 QAP~100 Inspection & Testing.

3.3 QAP~040 Design Control.

3.4 QAP~110 Control & Inspection, Measuring & Test.

4.0 DEFINITIONS

4.1 Company XYZ.

4.2 Quality Engineer Nominated Quality Engineer at Site.

4.3 Discipline Engineer Company designated HVAC Engineer as

decided by the Management and assigned with
the responsibility of managing electrical part of
the Project.

5.0 PROCEDURE

5.1 Responsibility

5.1.1 The responsibility for carrying out this Method Statement shall be that of the
Discipline Engineer/ Foremen, unless otherwise specifically mentioned in
this procedure. The Quality Engineer/ Discipline Engineer/ Foremen shall be
responsible for inspection & testing.

TITLE: PRE COMMISSIONING.

5.2 Preparation

5.2.1 Final connection of all equipment shall be done and power supply should be
connected to respective unit

5.2.2 Check all air outlet and make sure that all-protective covering removed from
it and airways are free from all obstruction.

5.2.3 Make sure that return air filters of the units are commissioning filter, and it is
placed in the position

5.2.4 Check power supply voltage. Make sure it can take equipment load, wires
are sized accordingly, and all wires are connected properly. Before giving
power connection to the unit, we have to do all electrical precautionary tests
and check all internal wiring for any loose connection.

5.2.5 If the units are, belts driven then make sure the alignment is correct, V belts
are tightened properly, and all bearings are to be checked for lubrication.
Check shipment bolts are removed and vibration mounting are properly
adjusted.

5.2.6 All above checks shall be carried out accordingly and it should be recorded
in the given format.

5.2.7 After completing this inspection by supervisor unit shall be kick started and
see the rotation of the motor and make sure it is running in the
manufacturer recommended direction and check noise level is within the
limits.

5.2.8 After all above checkpoints are checked and found satisfactory, then we can
start the unit and keep it on continuous.

5.3 Air balancing

5.3.1 After switching on airside equipment, we have to do air balancing. First,

take total CFM of the equipment, which we are, going to do air balancing
and make sure that it as per approved equipment schedule. If it is not
matching with approved schedule then we have to do some adjustment of
pully or replace it with suitable pully and adjust it to the designed CFM.
Take each air outlet air quantity and make sure that sum of these must be
tallying with total air quantity of that particular AHU. If total air outlet CFM is
not tallying with unit’s means, there is some leakage in the supply air duct
and it should be rectified by means of putting suitable sealant. Take all the
readings again and tally with total equipment airflow, if it is matching with
the total CFM then you can start adjusting individual air outlet by throttling

VCD / splitter damper until we achieve designed CFM and do this

adjustment for all air outlets of that particular unit. After completing air

balance of all air outlets check all air outlets again to ensure that during
adjustments previous adjustments was not disturbed. If any change in air
quantity is noticed we have to re adjust it to at required CFM. After
completing air balancing, make sure that noise level is within the limit as
specified in the contract specification. After completing, all above
adjustment satisfactorily take all readings and record in the given format.
These readings shall be submitted to consultant for their approval and
records.

5.3.2 After completing air- balancing it is always recommended to mark all VCD /
Splitter damper handle position and keep it in locked condition.

5.4 Chilled water balancing

5.4.1 Before starting Chilled water balancing work, we have to make sure that all
equipments are put in operation and it should be done after doing
commissioning of chillers. Chilled water temperature and pressure shall be
maintained according to the specification. First, we should adjust total
water flow of the system from the chilled water pump outlet by adjusting
balancing valve. Once after completing this, you have to adjust all
individual unit water flow (GPM) according to equipment schedule and
manufacturer flow rate selection. After completing chilled water flow
adjustment it is necessary to lock all Double regulating valves in that
position and put a tag on it showing how many turns is opened, so that in
future for maintenance purpose it may required to isolate the valves and
after maintenance work with the help of this I.D. tag we can put back DRV
to the same position. Same way in all pressure gauges normal operating
range shall be marked for future reference.

5.4.2 Once after completing all chilled water system pressure and flow rate then
we have to adjust, pressurization unit to regulate chilled water pressure and
water volume.

5.4.3 All above parameters shall be recorded in the given format and shall be
submitted to site engineer for his verification. After all readings checked
and verified by the site engineer it should be submitted to consultant for
their comments if any and for the records.
