Announcement of Troubleshooting Policy for DMS upgrade kits


(Correction of Newsletters No. 829 and No.822 )

In newsletter No. 829, we introduced DMS Ver. 3.5 upgrade kit model PM-DMS-21.
In newsletter No. 822, we introduced the kit model PM-DMS-20 for preventing hang-
up during data communication. For detailed information, please refer to each
newsletter.

We have found some troubles in the above kits, and wish to take the following
measures.

Abolishment of the kits:

PM-DMS-21
When Ver. 3.5 software is installed with the PM-DMS-21, the hard disk in the DMS
may crash. Please do not install the Ver. 3.5 software with this kit.

PM-DMS-20
As this kit cannot solve the hang-up trouble, we will abolish this kit.

A. Introduction of new upgrade kits

(1) Ver. 3.51 software upgrade kit model PM-DMS-21B

The PM-DMS-21B has been modified so that the trouble does not occur.

The PM-DMS-21B can upgrade your DMS to Ver. 3.51. The contents of the
upgrade are the same as those of Ver. 3.5; please refer to newsletter No. 829 for
details.

PM-DMS-21B
Applicable unit: Any version of DMS-XXXXB (Such as DMS-5500B housing
main unit DMU-201)
Remark:
As for DMU-200 (main unit of DMS-XXXX without suffix B), we will inform you
the details by the end of September.

(2) Introduction of hardware upgrade kit model PM-DMS-24

In some cases, data transfer to the DICOM server considerably slows down or
stops. This trouble does not always occur, and depends on the situation and the
connected server. If such trouble occurs, please consult our staff.

The PM-DMS-24 can solve the hang-up trouble when the Ver. 3.51 software is
installed on a DMS having the former hardware (see below for the serial
numbers).

Note:
The PM-DMS-24 is effective only when the Ver. 3.51 software is installed on the
above DMS.

In cases other than the above, the troubleshooting method depends on the
situation, so if such trouble occurs, please consult our staff.

When the DMS is not connected to a DICOM network or any FTP server, the
trouble does not occur and no other part of the performance is affected.

B. Our actions for PM-DMS-21

(1) Countermeasure against hardware crash

For the systems in which PM-DMS-21 has been already installed, we will send
troubleshooting kit model PM-DMS-21BU, free of charge. ATS (Aloka Technical
Service) will send the modification kits to the offices where the PM-DMS-21 has
been actually shipped, not later than the end of September of this year.

(2) Countermeasure against DICOM data communication hang-up

(2)-1 When the above PM-DMS-21BU is installed, the software version will be Ver.
3.51. As described above, if the hang-up trouble occurs, you are requested
to purchase the hardware upgrade kit PM-DMS-24.

(2)-2 As an exception, only for the systems in which PM-DMS-21 has been already
installed we will supply a kit model PM-DMS-24U which is free of charge.
Applicable serial numbers of the PM-DMS-24U are the same as those of
PM-DMS-24.

Please contact our staff in charge and describe the situation in detail with
the serial numbers of the DMS and ultrasound main unit and the name of the
institute where the system is installed. We will consult ATS and send the
necessary kits. (Please do not contact ATS staff directly.)

The PM-DMS-24 and PM-DMS-24U includes 2 P.C. boards per kit.
