Stage 1 – Desired Results

Established Goals: - Improve childrens’ motivation as well as the results in PET
and KET external examinations in both, oral and written skills.

Understandings: Essential Questions:

Students should be aware of the
importance of reading and writing in
English.
Students should be aware of the
importance of motivation in the learning
process.
Parents must know about the different
activities children are required to
perform in the PET/KET exam.
How can we improve our students’ oral
skills?
How can we improve our students’
written skills?
How can we improve motivation?
What am I going to do to improve my
students’ linguistic skills?
Who is going to be involved?
When am I going to implement it?
Why motivation is important in order
to get good results?

Stage 2 – Assessment Evidence

- Observation.
- Register sheets.
- Class Dojo app.
- Reading comprehension questions based on the texts we read together every day.
- Writing activities according to different topics.
- Keep a record of positive and negative rewards.
- Compare the previous results of PET and KET exams with the results we get the current year.

Stage 3 – Action Plan

Actions:
YEAR 5 AND YEAR 6
-Take into account students’ ideas to improve motivation.
-Introduce a variety of activities that meet students’ interests.
-Use a task based approach to work on the daily activities.
-Use ITC to watch videos and search pages that students are interested in.
-Use positive reinforcement on a daily basis to engage all students in the process of
learning.
-Create different kind of Certificate or awards according to the task: reading,
writing, speaking, collaboration, good behaviour…
-Inform the parents of the progress of their children in class every time the
students get a reward, trying to get parents involved in the whole process.
-Use the programme Class Dojo as a motivation tool for students.
