CHAPTER V

Summary of Findings, Conclusions and Recommendations

This chapter presents the summary of the study, findings based on

the data gathered, the drafted conclusion and the recommendation proposed
by the researchers to the study habits of the students.

Summary

The study aimed to determine the factors affecting the study habits of
the regular students of Don Vicente Rama Memorial National High School.
Data needed were gathered through the distribution of survey questionnaires
to the students to attain the objectives. The type of research used is
descriptive wherein it uses the qualitative method to determine which of the
following factors (time, environment and characteristics) commonly affects
the study habits of the regular students of Don Vicente Rama Memorial
National High School, how their study habits are being affected by these
factors, how they deal with these factors in relation to their maturity and
how their academic performances are being affected by their study habits
which are influenced by the same factors.

Findings

1. The results show that the factor which commonly affects the
study habits of

the students is the environment compared to the factors (time and

characteristics). This is evident in their acquired percentage. The
environment factor acquired a percentage of fifty percent while the time
factor acquired a percentage of 16.67% and the characteristics factor
acquired a percentage of 33.33%.

2. The result reveals that the factors (time, environment and

characteristics)

commonly affect the study habits of the students in a negative way by

causing cancellations on the time they planned to study which acquired a
percentage of 28.13%. On the other hand, these factors commonly affect the
study habits of the students in a positive way by giving them enough time in
studying which acquired a percentage of 39.54%.

3. The results show that the students of Don Vicente Rama

Memorial National

High School commonly deal with the factors (time, environment and
characteristics) by giving discipline to their studies. This is mostly done by
Grade 8 students which acquired a percentage of eighty percent.

4. The results reveal that the academic performance of the regular

student of Don

Vicente Rama Memorial National High School boost due to the factors
(time, environment and characteristics).

Conclusion
In conclusion, there are factors that affect the study habits of the
regular students of Don Vicente Rama Memorial National High School.
These include time, environment and characteristics wherein environment
mostly affects the students study habits; positively or negatively. It also
concludes that different grade levels deals with the factors boost the
academic performance of the students. In Walberg’s theory, efficient study
habits produce good outcomes while inefficient study habits produce bad
outcomes. Several factors affect these study habits which also greatly affect
their academic performance.

Recommendations

Given the conclusions, the researchers profound the following

recommendation:

1. The first and foremost recommendation is that students should

adapt good study habits and eliminate the bad ones in order for
them to boost their academic performance.
2. The second recommendation is that students should recognite the
factors that affect their study habits, Plan specific steps on getting
rid with those factors and take an action on eliminating those
factors.
3. The third recommendation is that the future researchers should get
at least thirty percent of population of the regular students of Don
Vicente Rama Memorial National High School in identifying the
factors affecting their study habits.
