Bus Fares Information

Students can pay a single fare on the All Saints school bus service. The single fare varies by distance, but is general
between £1.00 and £1.40 for students with a Young Person’s Photocard. You can apply for a Young Person’s
Photocard online at www.wymetro.com or at a Metro Travel Centre.

Weekly and monthly School Plus travel tickets are also valid on the All Saints school bus services. These are multi-
operator tickets that can be used on all bus services in West Yorkshire, regardless of bus operator. These tickets
mean that students do not have to carry cash for bus fares, and are valid for travel at all times, including weekends
and evening. (There are some restrictions associated with special services, e.g. services to special events - see
www.wymetro.com for full details.) Prices at 1st October 2014 are £9.25/week or £34.00/month. You can purchase
a School Plus travel ticket by taking your Young Person’s Photocard ‘smartcard’ to your local Payzone outlet - see
www.payzone.co.uk to find your nearest outlet.

Calderdale Feeder Schools - Bus
If your child currently attends one of the primary schools below, you may be interested to know that there are bus
services available for your child to travel from the Calderdale area to/from All Saints Catholic College. In some
instances this may involve a change of bus.

 Sacred Heart (Sowerby) - Students in the Sowerby Bridge/Pye Nest area can use the frequent 579 service
to/from Halifax Bus Station, to connect to/from the C78 school bus. The 579 service at 0722 from Sowerby
(Rooley Heights), 0731 from Sowerby Bridge (Station Road), or 0740 from King Cross will allow students to
connect on to the C78 service at Halifax Bus Station at 0800.
 St Joseph’s (Brighouse) - Students in the Brighouse area can catch the C4 school bus from Brighouse Bus Station
direct to/from All Saints. Alternatively students living close to the route of the X63 services through Bailiff Bridge
and Brighouse can use this service to/from Bradley Bar roundabout, which is a short walk from school.
 St Joseph’s (Halifax) - Halifax Bus Station is approximately 10-15 minutes’ walk from the school. From the Bus
Station students can catch the C78 school bus direct to/from All Saints. Alternatively students in Claremount can
catch the 34 or 507 services to/from Halifax town centre (Waterhouse Street or Commercial Street), to connect
to/from the C78 school bus. The 507 service at 0745 from Claremount (Horley Street) will allow students to
connect on to the C78 service in the town centre at 0800.
 St Malachy’s - Students in the Ovenden/Illingworth area can use the frequent 521 service to/from Halifax town
centre (Waterhouse Street or Commercial Street), to connect to/from the C78 school bus. The 521 service at
0732 from Illingworth (Tewit Lane Top) or 0740 from Ovenden Way Top will allow students to connect on to the
C78 service in the town centre at 0800.
 St Mary’s - Students in the Savile Park area may wish to use the C78 school bus from Skircoat Road, which is a
short walk from some parts of Savile Park. Students in the King Cross area may wish to change buses at Halifax
Bus Station by catching the frequent 579 service at 0740 from King Cross, to connect on to the C78 services at
Halifax Bus Station at 0800.
 St Patrick’s - Students in the Elland/West Vale area can catch the C78 school bus which passes through West
Vale at approximately 0815 and Elland at approximately 0820. This is a very popular service and is supported by
the C77 school bus (operated by Halifax Bus Company), which operates to/from West Vale and follows the same
route as the C78 service.

The School Plus travel ticket is valid on all the bus services mentioned above, including school bus services and
normal bus services. At £9.25/week or £34.00/month, this ticket offers great value, especially where students are
taking two buses each way.
