Born to an Illuskan military noble family in Waterdeep, Lottergeth of House
Heavenshield was groomed as both a courtier and a warrior. Second of four children,
Lottergeth lost his eldest brother Olmer in command of the House's mercenary operation
and his second youngest brother Aktar while aboard a beplagued ship returning from
Maztica. The youngest of the four, Helnek is 12 years of age and is being groomed as a
cleric of Amaunator/Lathander.

Lorei Heavenshield is Lottergeth's father. A fine diplomat and a proven general,

Lorei lost both the left hand and eye near the end of his first campaign, against Calimport.
This otherwise successful campaign secured him a place among the ranks of Waterdeep's
outgoing diplomats.

For nearly 40 years, Lorei Heavenshield has represented Waterdeep in the far
reaches of Faerun. Most notably, he served as Waterdeep's envoy in Thay for 13 years.
During his stay there he marveled at the tenacity and obedience of the Thayan Knights.
Upon settling back, he immediately begun remodeling the House's interests from wartime
mercenaries to peacetime wizard sentinels.

By 1372, at the age of 73, Lorei is still in action. After a brief stint in Maztica, he can
mostly be found in Waterdeep or in short missions around Faerun. Lottergeth served as
his aide until recently, where an envoy assignment became anounced by the Voice. This
being on Rashemen was especially important for House Heavenshield as it would offer
contacts among another kind of mage protectors, hopefully improving their own ranks.

Zulna Heavenshield is Lottegeth's mother. In perpetual grievance since the loss of

her third child, she has spent the majority of the last decade tending to the House's shrine
of Amaunator.

House Heavenshield claims Netherese heritage and pays homage to Amaunator. At

the time it was first established in Waterdeep, the House publicly acknowledged
Lathander. Privately they continued referring to him as Amaunator.

Lottergeth spent the majority of his youth under the tutelage of Grenalkadon
Astrimihtard, a gnome of great erudition and patience. he studied the art of the court as
well as his way with metal of any size. Gren was hired as a counselor to the Lord of the
House even before leaving Luskan for Waterdeep. He tutored his children, Lorei's
generation, then tutored Lorei's children. Now, at the age of 312 he is essentially the
House's Quartermaster and Lorekeeper. When Helnek is not on clerical duty he studies
book keeping under Gren.

Despite his co, Lottergeth revels on the militants aspect of the family. Happy to beat
other kids with a stick as soon as he could walk and hold one, "Lot" dueled whenever the
opportunity presented itself, more than once disgracing Lorei in foreign lands. Despite
Lottergeth's aggressive demeanor, Grenalkadon managed to instill some patience and a
few manners in him. While passable as a diplomat, Lottergeth is certainly more inclined to
spill some blood when the talking odds are unfavorable.

As far as Lottergeth is concerned, he would rather lead soldiers into battle in the
name of glory and land. In the absence of said soldiers, acquiring fame, coin and favors is
essentially building up to his goal. However amibitious, Lottergeth's honor is bound to his
family and he would not willingly betray them.
