Evolution of the Training Profession

The training profession has evolved incredibly over the past years. The human's mind

learns and memorizes patterns, routines, time, process, names, behaviors, and more. There are

times when training is necessary to fulfill the knowledge to be able to perform tasks, achieve goals,

and adjust to something new. Training can be defined as a planned activity that facilitates

information and necessary skill to prepare individuals for success in their plans and goals

(Training, 2018). This paper will mention the evolution of training from WWII to my most recent

personal training.

Different Types of Training and Methods

Organizations today use different types of training and methods of delivery. Some of the

most used training is for Quality, Onboarding, Skills, Technical, Soft Skills, Technology,

Professional Training, Legal, Products knowledge, services, Team Training, Orientation,

Managerial, Safety and more. Training is based on the mission and needs of the business. One or

more of these training can also be combined. There are many methods to deliver training and they

are based on the audience and budget of the company. Some of the methods are; “Technology-

Based, Simulators, On-The-Job Training, Manuals, Coaching/Mentoring, Lectures, Group

Discussions, Tutorials, Role Playing, Games, Outdoor Training, Films, Case Studies, Videos, and

more” (Profectionals, 2001). The budget for the training influence in the selected method.

Training that my Organization Currently Uses

My organization currently uses orientation training for new employees, sales techniques,

product knowledge, customer services, technology, Social media, makeup application, psychology

in the human personality, and management. Most of the training is done in the store in working

hours and online. I work in the cosmetic department as a business manager. We also travel out of

the state to get trained in product knowledge with the brand that we represent.

Training that I have Attended Recently

I recently attended to a training in California with Yves Saint Laurent company for new

product knowledge, application and sale techniques. They presented us with different fun types of

training. The first one was on sale techniques that were presented on stage with games,

demonstration, and team groups for role play. The next day we were divided into groups and

rotated between different rooms for workshops. The last day was an outdoor training which was

fun and productive. The company took the entire group to a high level in the mall to evaluate

customer service. The training staff sends groups of three to designated stores. As a customer, we

learn how to provide the best customer service. I wouldn’t change anything about training. Those

that planned training programs can learn from each other’s experiences and also share writing

techniques that can help each other’s success.
