Engineering Impacts
This feature affects installation and commissioning procedures in the following ways:
• If an LTE BBU is cabled to the eAM alarm collection module then it must be
programmed with the appropriate BTSPackaging value.
• If an LTE BBU is not cabled to the eAM (that is, another BBU within the cabinet is
cabled to the eAM and reports cabinet frame alarms) then it must be programmed
with a BTSPackaging value of 0x1A.
• DIP switches on the lightRadio™ Cabinet Controller (LRCC) of each unit must be set
according to the unit type (Compact or Small) and presence of TRDU shelf (TRDU
Alarm enabled/disabled).
About alarms
Different versions of the lightRadio cabinet support different sets of alarms, and software
currently uses the BTSPackaging value to determine the proper alarm set for this cabinet
type. (Future software releases will use a new Alarm Schema value to determine the
alarm map, but this is not yet supported.) The following new package types are provided
to describe the lightRadio™ cabinets:
• 0x32 = 9711 lightRadio™ Cabinet, Indoor, AC power
• 0x36 = 9711 lightRadio™ Cabinet, Indoor, DC power
• 0x33 = 9712 lightRadio™ Cabinet, Outdoor, AC power

Hardware for the MRO is provided by Feature 159253. Software for the MRO is provided
by Feature 159254. Configuration for the MRO is provided by Feature 159255.
Feature Description
The MRO is a small RRH targeted at hotspots, such as urban street corners and stadiums,
primarily for adding capacity. This feature covers the 2x2 Outdoor Commercial product.
The 2x2 supports MIMO with up to 2 transmit and 2 receive streams.
Feature Benefits
The MRO provides extra coverage in areas where large amounts of capacity are required
in small footprints, such as in a stadium.
Another benefit is the ease of installation. The MRO is designed to be “plug and play”, so
that the technician mounts the MRO on a light pole, a wall or the side of a building and
simply connects it to power and backhaul (CPRI), with no other site commissioning
activities.

....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Feature Description
There are use cases where the subscriber density peaks in a relatively small geographical
area (for example, stadium, airport, campus or large enterprise). Macro eNodeBs, which
are deployed to cover a wider geographical area with a moderate subscriber density, are
not well suited for these use cases. Therefore, a cost-effective solution to provide the
needed high capacity to accommodate the high subscriber density is needed. For the
above mentioned use cases, since the subscribers are concentrated, the RF transmit power
can be much lower than the RF transmit power for a macro eNodeB with traditional RRH.
This feature introduces the MRO product, which is a lightweight, small form factor RRH
targeted for these use cases. The small form factor of the MRO allows MROs to be

deployed inside a stadium, inside an enterprise building, or on a light pole. The MRO is
connected to an existing BBU and used with the BBU as an overlay in an existing macro
eNodeB coverage area.

Use of the MRO provides the following benefits:
• Distributed BBU that can use conventional, clustered, or pooled BBU configurations
for lowest total cost of ownership
• Directional beams that are ideal for shared carrier deployment
The LR MRO form factor RRH is a better alternative than Distributed Antenna Systems
(DASs) for the following reasons:
• The LR MRO supports MIMO.
• The LR MRO supports more sectors with unique Cell-Ids per sector, and
• The LR MRO supports tighter RF footprints for focused coverage.
Hardware for the MRO is provided by Feature 159253. Software for the MRO is provided

Feature Description
This feature provides enhanced Fault Management supporting the local time zone of the
eNodeB.
With this feature, the eNodeB provides and manages the UTC offset and the DST rules.
This feature displays the eNodeB local time with +/- UTC offset if timeZoneName is set
to “Non-UTC”.
The parameter timeZoneName, introduced in LA5.0, is also used to support this feature.
This parameter allows the operator to configure the timeZoneName for a particular

What is CMAS?
The Commercial Mobile Alert System (CMAS) is a voluntary regulatory mandate, used for
public safety. The CMAS application is specific to the US market and is established by
the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The CMAS network will allow the
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to aggregate alerts from the President
of the United States, the National Weather Service (NWS) and state and local emergency
operations centers. The alerts are then sent over a secure interface to participating
wireless providers who in turn will send those emergency alerts as text messages to their
subscribers.
Participating wireless service providers must be able to target alerts to individual counties
and ensure that alerts reach roaming mobiles (subscribing to other service providers).
The Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) has announced the recent
completion of its standard for CMAS broadcast over LTE networks. This opens up the
possibility of deploying CMAS over LTE in other countries (in addition to the USA).
