A new Lake Research Partners poll of likely Democratic primary voters in Michigan’s 9th congressional
district shows Andy Levin in a commanding position to win the open seat. 1 Levin’s strong personal
favorability and advantages on key issues provide him a wide margin over second-place Democrat Ellen
Lipton across all regions and demographics in the district.

The poll results show that Levin is supported by a majority of likely Democratic voters (51%) five weeks
ahead of the August primary, while Lipton trails far behind with 12% of the vote, followed by Martin Brook
with 4%.

Levin Lipton Brook Undecided

Levin’s lead over Lipton is solid in both the Macomb (+37 points) and Oakland County (+43 points) portions
of the district. Notably, there is no gender gap, as Levin is winning a majority of both men (52%) and women
(51%) in the primary.

Key Advantages for Levin

Levin is viewed as stronger across the board on issues than Lipton, with voters rating him from +26 points
to +36 points better than Lipton on key issues such as health care, education, jobs, and standing up to
Trump.

Andy Levin is also far better known and better liked across the 9th District than his Democratic rivals. Levin’s
favorability rating is 58% favorable to 4% unfavorable. While Lipton’s favorability of 25% to 7% unfavorable
is also net positive, two-thirds (67%) of primary voters have either no opinion or haven’t heard of her.

Although Lipton has outspent Levin in recent weeks on TV and mail, Lipton remains far behind. As long as
Levin continues to communicate his message, he is in a very strong position to win the Democratic primary.
