Remote Monitoring & Analytics

• Company Overview:
– Joy Global and its businesses pride themselves on providing a full range of value-added aftermarket services, and
are committed to assisting our customer's mine ores and minerals at the lowest possible cost. To achieve these
objectives, we use a Life Cycle Management Strategies (LCMS) approach, which places the highest value on
continuous and exceptional customer support. To assist our customers, facilities and equipment service centers
span six continents and more than twenty distinct countries.

• ThingWorx Role:
– ThingWorx is the strategic development platform that will enable Joy Global to collect real-time data from both their
underground and surface equipment. The ThingWorx platform will enable Joy to deliver real time analytics at the
mine site providing a level of customer support which leapfrogs their competition. ThingWorx will also enable new
applications to be built integrating multiple complex data sources. These new applications will provide field level
data that was unavailable beforehand and will aid in providing greater visibility into the complex coal mining
process.

• Status:
– ThingWorx won 3 successful pilots and Won a production enterprise license agreement for a yearly renewable
subscription. 3 year subscription order in process- $900K

• Miscellaneous:
– ThingWorx competition was big data suppliers. They looked at GE and Honeywell as well.

• Revenue:
– 3 year Projection – 2014=$300K, 2015=$300K, 2016=$300K

22
Remote Monitoring & Analytics

• Application Overview:
– Remote Monitoring and Analytics. Joy Global will be leveraging ThingWorx in a host of applications. The first two
production applications will be a customer facing mine site analytics application as well as a cloud based portal
which they will expose multiple ThingWorx applications.

• Connected Devices, Systems, and Services:

– Joy is connecting all their existing mining equipment covering 15 global mine site. The total population of
machines is approaching 1000. Each machine outputs 1000 real time data points to be collected at sub second
intervals. ThingWorx Edge Micro Server (EMS) is the enabling technology giving Joy the ability to collect, store
and analyze this real-time data which in the past was complex and unstable.

• Architecture:
– Joy will be hosting the ThingWorx Platform in two of their data centers. One US based, the other in South
Africa. At the mine sites, the ThingWorx EMS will be installed on a smart device running in their
equipment. Future implementation will include federating our architecture to allow ThingWorx servers to be
installed at the local mine site. This would allow each mine site to collect data and then send large data volumes
back to the data center during off hours to manage network bandwidth more efficiently.

• Business Processes:
– Joy's current business process was broken as it took people to manage through the instability of collecting the
mass volume of data and their inability to do field level analytics. ThingWorx stabilizes the data collection process
while providing Joy's ability to innovate into new application deliverables for their customers.
