As we know, In Peru is so easy to buy a gun.

I like to point out that here are 18,8 guns per 100 000 of people in our country. The Gun deaths
are approximately 2500 per year, and the tendency keeps on.

What is happening with arms trafficking in our country?. Experts assumed that the flow of
smuggling guns and munition are caused by robbery.

In other words, the majority of pistols and shotguns used by criminal groups in Peru were stolen
from legitimate owners, rather than acquired through the black market.

Although the police provide few details about how criminals steal these weapons, the fact many
are taken from security force stockpiles gives reason to believe there is collaboration from corrupt
officials. That remains me that the police have been selling seized drugs.

Getting back to what we were saying, Peru has a history of illegal arms trafficking by officials.
Peruvian soldiers were arrested in 2009 for allegedly providing weaponry to Colombia’s FARC
rebel group, and one official claimed in 2011 the practice was still occurring. Former intelligence
chief Vladimiro Montesinos also organized a scheme in 1999 in which 10,000 assault rifles from
Jordan were sold to the FARC.

To conclude; in the first place, we like to stress that our government hasn't been doing anything to
track the path of smuggling guns or arms brokers.

In the second place, the main reason is that corrupt officials are making huge quantities of money
selling guns.

Finally, we have regulatory challenges for preventing firearms smuggling into Peru.
