In this course, we will be reading lots of texts and analyzing them. We will be exploring various
concepts to become better readers and writers. You will be held to high expectations both
academically and behaviorally. Strive toward reaching your goals. Incomplete work, poor attitudes,
and other non-productive behaviors will not put you on a path for success. If you are struggling at any
point, please see me so that we can work together to come up with the best plan for your success.

How to Get Help
I am willing to meet with you to help you.
Please let me know in advance, and we can
work together to schedule a time that works for
both of us. You can always use www.English-
palof.weebly.com for extra copies of
assignments
Please note: the expectations is that you are
attentive in class and working to understand
the concepts. Please do not waste class time
only to request to stay after school to make up
for lost time.
You may also email me for help or text me
through remind 101 and I will respond as soon
as possible.
Homework
Homework will be given out at the start of the week.
Typically this will be an Article of the Week. Students
will have assignments to do each day that break
down the article and the entire article will be due at
the end of the week along with a quiz. Homework
steps will be checked every day during reading
warm-up time! On occasion, students may have to
complete other work or projects at home. Extras
can always be found at www.English-
palof.weebly.com Teacher will not print extra copies
for students, if assignments are lost students must
print out at home or at the school library.
Independent Reading &
Exit Slips:
Students daily routine will include approximately 10
minutes of choice reading at the start of class.
Students will respond to reading daily. Students will
also reflect on learning goals at the end of class.
Students should be prepared with a book or reading
material daily. Expectations for Independent
Reading will be gone over in depth during class.
Technology
We will be utilizing various resources to access
the Internet to research, review material, and
submit assignments.
Unless I specifically say that you may have
your cell phones out, you must keep them
away at all times. If I see your cell phone in
class, I will take it for the remainder of the
class period.
Grade Updates
Grades will be updated in Infinite Campus
once per week. I typically update on Sunday
or Monday from the prior week. Parent or
Student Portal is the best way to check
progress.
Other Information
• You may have bottled water in the
classroom as long as you are careful.
Please do not eat in class (bugs, eww!)
• Check the website or pay attention in class
for more info on units of study, we will read
novels and short stories together this year 
• Please raise your hand to speak.
• Do not interrupt valuable instruction to ask
to go to the bathroom. Please wait for an
appropriate time. You have breaks, use
them! Leaving class should be an
emergency only!
• Agenda = Hall Pass. No agenda? No pass!
• Come prepared to class with your materials
and a positive attitude.
• Be respectful to everyone.
• Clean up after yourself.
• Respect the property in the classroom.
• Be an active participant in the classroom.
