Pre-Earth Life: God’s Purpose and Plan for Us

Opening Prayer

God is our Heavenly Father and we are His children.

Before we were born, we lived with Heavenly Father as His spirit children. We were
spirits there. When we were spirits, we didn’t have flesh and bones like our bodies have
now, but we looked the same.
Explain that Heavenly Father is the father of our spirits, and we are his spirit children.
We don’t remember living with Heavenly Father before we came to earth, but we know
we are his spirit children because we read it in the scriptures. Read Hebrews 12:9,
Romans 8:16 and Psalm 82:6

God has a plan for our happiness. Jesus Christ is Central to that plan.

Heavenly Father wanted us to be able to receive a physical body, to learn to choose

between right and wrong, and have the opportunity to become like him. We accepted his
plan so we could be born on earth, have a body and be tested. Heavenly Father would
send His Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ, to overcome death and to atone for our sins. By
faithfully following Heavenly Father’s plan, we can return to Him.

Sadly, one third of Heavenly Father’s spirit children did not accept His plan. They chose
to follow Satan, then known as Lucifer. Lucifer didn’t want us to be able to make our
own choices. A war of ideas was fought in heaven, and Lucifer and his followers were
cast out. You are on earth because you chose Heavenly Father’s plan. (Abraham 3:23-
28) (Revelation 12:7-9)

God’s plan of happiness makes it possible to return to His presence.

Heavenly Father wants each of us to return to live with him when our earth life is
finished. He wants us, our parents, and all our families to be with him again.
To live with Heavenly Father and Jesus again, we must be baptized and keep all the
commandments. Show a set of scriptures. Explain that the scriptures teach us about
Heavenly Father and Jesus and what they want us to do.
He wants us to love our families, be unselfish, go to church, take the sacrament (Picture
108), pray morning and night (Picture 111), have family prayer and family home evening
(Picture 112), be baptized(Picture 103,104 ), be confirmed and receive the Holy Ghost
(Picture 105,106), be married in the temple (Picture 120), learn about prophets, and
become like Heavenly Father and Jesus. Read Moses 1:39

Closing Prayer

Treat: Birds Nest Cookies

1 (12-oz.) bag chocolate chips

1 (12 oz.) can Chinese noodles
1 cup miniature marshmallows

Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in a medium bowl on high for 1 minute and
stir. Return to microwave in 30-second increments, stir each time until melted and
smooth.

When the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth, add the remaining ingredients
and stir well. Use a tablespoon to drop the batter onto a cookie sheet that has been
lined with waxed paper.
