Abstract

In Pakistan data about cancer incidence is not available at national level the only data

available is from the hospital data registries and histopathological reports. Socio-

demographic data of patients was collected from Institute of Nuclear Medicine,

Oncology and Radiotherapy (INOR) Abbottabad retrospectively from (2004 – 2014) 11

years period, to find out the year wise incidence of Gynecologic Malignancies. Among

total 5445 registries males were (2783, 51.11%), females (2662, 48.88%), gynecological

malignancies were 470 (8.6%) of all cancers and (17.62%) of female cancers. Abbottabad

district has highest prevalence (190), 40.42%, followed by Mansehra (149), 31.70% and

least from Torghar (2) 0.42%. The frequency of ovarian cancer was highest (n=252,

53.60%) followed by Cervical cancer (n=79, 16.80%), uterine cancer (n=60, 12.70%) and

least are vaginal cancer (n=8, 1.60%). The cancer is most prevalent among middle age

groups 41—60 (%). Treated cases in each types of FGTC are in lower frequencies than

those not treated chemotherapy not treated 287, (61.06%) treated 183, (38.93%),

radiotherapy not treated 314, (69 %), treated 122, (31%), except surgery in which the

treated cases were more frequent than those not treated, surgically treated 384,

(81.70%), not treated 86, (18.29%), The study was in accordance with the previous

studies from Pakistan ovarian cancer being most common type, age distribution and

frequencies of different neoplasms resembles the previous data.
