STABILIZERS
APPLICATION & ADVANTAGES
• Hydro-Form™ Centralizers are utilized in the casing string to facilitate improved
cementing and Stabilizers are utilized at the bottom of a “drill-in” Casing Drilling™
string to stabilize the BHA (Bottom Hole Assembly).
• Tesco’s unique design and attachment method provides superior strength and
rigidity capable of withstanding dynamic downhole loads while maintaining standoff
under large side forces without crushing.
• Tesco’s Centralizers and Stabilizers provide positive centralization for cementing
in vertical and deviated wells for both Casing Drilling™ and Casing Running
applications. These accessories facilitate rotation of the casing string, a significant
advantage for cementing operations.
• Centralizers located up-hole from the bit will condition the well bore during drilling.
• Helical blade design enhances circulation, hole cleaning and cementing.
Tungsten Carbide hard facing on blades provides excellent wear resistance while
drilling in abrasive formations.
• Stabilizers applied near the bit provide improved directional control through
stabilization of the drilling assembly.
• Tesco’s RTF™ (Radial Tubular Forming) crimping process provides a strong and
Hydro-FormTM Centralizer
durable mechanical attachment capable of withstanding high torque and is well
suited for both drilling and Casing Running applications.

DESIGN & FEATURES

• Tesco’s Hydro-Form™ Centralizers and Stabilizers are designed specifically for
the rigors of rotation and drilling. Blades and body are formed as a single integral
component by the Hydro-Form™ process.
• The Hydro-Form™ process uses hydraulic pressure up to 40,000 psi to reshape
and form thick-walled steel tubes, in contrast with labor intensive welding and
machining methods that increases costs and changes metallurgical properties of
the base metal.
• For added wear and abrasion resistance, Tungsten Carbide hard facing can be
applied to the blades.
• Centralizers and Stabilizers are available for standard pipe sizes. Blade
configurations can be customized when required. Stabilizer blades are ground to
diameter for near bit string stabilization.
• Centralizers and Stabilizers are attached firmly to casing as “Rotating” by Tesco’s
patented RTF™ crimping process. Centralizers can be allowed to float as “Non-
Rotating” by simply slipping them on the casing without attachment. Installation
can be performed in the field, pipe yard or pipe mill.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
• Attachment options:
Rotating: Centralizers and Stabilizers are attached to casing by Tesco’s
RTFTM (Radial Tubular Forming) tool to create a durable mechanical lock by
crimping onto the pipe body.
Non-rotating: Centralizers can be left to float free and spin on casing
between couplings, or can be constrained axially with “crimped on” stop
collars. (applies to centralizers only)
• Hard facing: Tungsten Carbide is applied by a proprietary process providing a
combination of abrasion resistance and toughness for downhole loads, avoiding
the cracking and separation experienced by conventional hard-facing techniques.
