Title: Capacity Building and Strengthening and Skills Training on Good
Agricultural Practices
Venue: Barangay Jubgan, San Francisco, Surigao del Norte
I. Rationale
The coconut has been called “The Tree of Life” because of its one thousand and
one food and non-food uses. From the roots to the tip of its leaves, trunk and its fruit,
the people benefit from it in all forms. Aside from its uses, the coco farmers should be
the direct beneficiaries of the benefits of the industry.
Barangay Jubgan, San Francisco, Surigao del Norte is one of the barangays with
the largest coconut areas in the municipality of San Francisco, Surigao del Norte and
mostly of the CFO members are the beneficiaries of the ACPRP projects specifically IPOP
and PCPP. They need to enhance their skill on how to apply the good agricultural
practices in order to sustain the projects as well as to increase their income.
With the present PCA project, the coco farmers of this site need to be fully
capacitated and their organization shall be strengthened to prepare them for the future
economic enterprise that they will be undertaken.
