Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

iMovie is great tool when it comes addressing Universal Design for Learning. This tool can be great for
students that need a hands-on approach when it comes to learning about certain material. Visual learners can
benefit from the videos and pictures that can be added and musical aspect that can help the students that
have auditory problems.
Lesson idea implementation:
In this lesson, the teacher will ask the students if they know what the different types of rocks and what is
some information that they already know about them. I will have the student complete their own KWL. After
the students complete the K and W part of the KWL, they will watch the movie that talks about the different
types of rocks and once that is done the students will complete the L part of the chart. This assignment will
take about 10 minutes.
The students will be assessed by taking a quiz or having an open discussion about the information that has
been just been reviewed. This final product would be used to help ease the learning and help the students
that may have differ learning strategies or techniques. We would be able to extend student learning by having
the students possibly do more research on a specific type of rock. I would conclude the lesson by having the
students talk about what they learned either in small groups, with a partner, or in large group to create one
big paper full of ideas.
Importance of technology:
Having a multimedia tool is critical to the project because it allowed to me to become a better teacher for
being able to connect with the different learners within my classroom. This lesson could be completed
without the use of technology, but I feel like for the students it would not be as interesting for them to pay
attention. If the technology wasn’t used the students interest would be lost. The only other technology that
would be used would be a computer and SMARTboard.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy:
Some issues that could surround internet safety and student privacy would be the student could access
information that they should not be viewing or the teacher could accidently go against the paper that the
parent signed to not have their child posted on the internet. The teacher could go against some of the parents
and principal have by telling them about all the strategies that they have in place to make sure that everyone
is safe.
Reflective Practice:
I feel that the lesson that I prepared for my students would be very helpful in the future. I would extend
this lesson by having the students complete more research about the information that they have just seen.
