PRACTICAL:-
DENSITY MEASUREMENT

AIM:-
To measure the density of given liquid using hydrometer.

APPARATUS:-
Hydrometer.

MATERIAL/CHEMICAL:-
Given liquid sample.

THEORY:-
There are a variety of density measurement devices based on
displacement techniques.
A hydrometer is a constant weight variable immersion device. The degree
of immersel, when the weigh of the hydrometer equals the weight of displaced
liquid is a measure of the density. The hydrometer is adaptable to manual or
automatic usage.
A displacement float consist of a completely submerged float position as
in figure. The position of the float varies with the weight of the chain supported
by the buoyant.
Another modification includes a magnetic float suspended below a
solenoid. The varying magnetic field maintaining the float at a constant distance
from the solenoid constant distance change in position of the float resulting from
density change exists. An electrical system which increases or decreases the
current through the solenoid.

PROCEDURE:-
 Clean all the glass ware.
 Take sample in given beaker.
 Clean the hydrometer.
 Deep this hydrometer in given sample of beaker.
 Let it be steady for 5 minutes.
 Note down the reading where surface of liquid matches the scale of
hydrometer.
 Take the same procedure for different sample.
 Note down the reading.
 Clean all the glass ware & hydrometer.
RESULT:-
At room temperature acetone gm/ml
Benzene gm/ml
water gm/ml
OBSERVATION:-
Weight of beaker = ______gm.
