Title: Essay about Religion

Introduction:

What is the meaning of religion for you? Do you believe in God? Why? Because it is a custom or
conviction? Which religion is better? Do you think your Religion is the most acceptable to people?
And the others are not worth?

There are approximately 4,200 religions in the world all of them are derivate of four main religions
which are Christianity Islam, Buddhism and Judaism. Let us start with the definition of Religion is
hard to define but for Clifford Geertz, religion is a complex cultural system for Tillich religions
Religion is the most intensive and comprehensive method of valuing that is experienced by
humankind. I think that a complete definition of Religion could be a collection of cultural systems,
beliefs, world views that establishes symbols that relate humanity to spirituality associate to moral
values. I strongly believe that the three more important aspects that religion include are explanation
of the universe, Religious laws and specific lifestyle, these tend to teach morality, ethics and human
nature and the third involves their own believes.

First, in general Religion is a belief in a god, whoever will be. It is like a conviction in
supernatural realities relevant to human well-being, a supreme god that gives meaning to life.
People started to believe on gods like rain, sea thunder etc. because they do not have other logical
explanation. Now as an adults we believe and choose our religion that I like it most according with
our logic. Whatever religion has its own explanation of the origin of the universe, we can choose to
believe in the one will be more suitable for each of us and for our children. Some religions have
blind spots, contradictions errors and good arguments, people choose their religion according their
country and social environment too. Some religions excludes phenomena such as magic, some
kind of art, and science from being considered as opposites to their religion

Second, any religion has its own laws and its specific lifestyle that are relate to private
experiences and practices. For example in the past the Mormon religion baptized their new adepts
in the river. In some churches people have to cry and shout to be forgiven. Muslim woman have to
follow their husband behind them with their face covered. In the religion La Luz del Mundo women
have to use long dresses. Many of the religious have to indoctrinate the children to know their laws.
Many religions think their laws have to have a personal appropriation, internalized and guided in
all aspects of life.

Third, some religions have beliefs that are something irrational, too superficial or they are
too inclusive or too exclusive as definitions for they fail to appreciate the breadth and depth of
religious phenomena. These religions valuing beliefs more than anything and not about reasoning
about truth. According to Tillich, “faith is the state of being ultimately concerned.” The Ultimate
Concern is that which demands complete surrender of the person who faithfully accepts everything.
All in the name of the faith. For example when people do illogical things on the name of faith. These
kind of actions happen often in some religions and in the sects they have a blind faith. For example
when people walk many miles or walk on their knees to the temple for penance.

In summary, there are many religions in the word all of them have one good as a supreme being.
The definition of religion like a complex cultural system with beliefs, ritual world views, religious
laws, specific lifestyle, moral values and related to humanity and spirituality. The three aspect to
highlight here are conception and origin of the universe, Religious laws with rituals, specific lifestyle,
with morality values, and their own believes.
