MIET2407/OENG1181 Final report 2018

Assessment overview

• This is a group assessment task worth 30% of your overall grade.

• The due date for this assessment task is Sunday 03 June 2017 at 23:59.
• A 10% per day late penalty will apply to all group members if the assessment task is submitted
after this date and time.
• A 100% penalty will apply 5 days after this date and time.
• Slow upload speeds or problems with internet connections are not a valid reason for waivers of
late penalties. It is strongly recommended to submit your work well before the closure time.

Submission requirements:

Only one group member is required to submit the report on Canvas on behalf of the group.

1. Create a .PDF version of your report

2. The format of the PDF filename should be MIET2407/OENG1181_Finalreport_Group#.pdf
Substitute #for your group number e.g., if you are in Group 09-2, then the filename would be
MIET2407/OENG1181_Finalreport_Group09-2.pdf
3. Submit the .PDF report via TurnItin on Canvas:
- Students are to submit one PDF file only. Any additional files will not be assessed. Use a merging
tool if you need to merge multiple PDF files.
- Please note that there is a 20 MB file limit. To comply, it is suggested that the resolution of pictures
be reduced (e.g. 100 dpi).

Assessment task

You are to prepare a professional report addressing your selected design area, design topic,
categories and sub-categories in the marking rubric. Please use the following structure as a general
guide to your report.
• Executive Summary
• Team Reflection (written in the first person, e.g. “We….”)
• Introduction
• Design Requirements
• Design Ideas and Selection
• Detailed Design
• Prototyping / Modelling / Testing (if any)
• Implementation plan for the final design, including Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Gantt
chart
• Risk assessment of implementation if the final design, using quantified risk management to
identify difficulties that may be encountered, risk scores (using likelihood and consequence
techniques) and risk mitigation (minimisation) strategies.
• Conclusions and Recommendations
• References (IEEE or Harvard [appropriate to your Discipline in discussion with your tutor], as
described by the RMIT Library)
• Appendices

A guide to the number of pages is approximately 30-35 pages of concise and relevant information,
excluding any title page, index, references and appendices.
