Welcome back to Term 3. It has been great to see how quickly

students have returned from holiday refreshed and keen to start
learning. This term there are many exciting activities planned, with our student
inquiry based around the big idea of Kaitaiakitanga: Are we responsible
guardians of our environment? Students will be investigating rubbish and
sustainability as part of the inquiry.

Saturday 8th September Lastly I would just like to say how amazing our Polyfest Kapa Haka Performance
group were. Although we were one of the smaller schools to participate, our
Working Bee students sung with great passion and voice and I was so proud of them all. A
9-2pm huge thank you to Matua Whaitiri and Karen Scoon who led the group of
students. Thank you also to Eli Maiava and Common Unity who helped support
us with the costumes. They looked amazing!

We do all sorts of different writing activities in Rimu
Kahikatea In Rimu we are learning about two dimensional shapes. We
looked at some pieces of art where the artists used geometric
shapes like squares, triangles, rectangles and circles. Here we
are making our own butterfly pictures using shapes. Whaea
Sherilyn put a picture of the TV screen so we could make sure
our shapes are in the right places.

"Some of the amazing readers in
Kōwhai Class doing buddy reading Kia ora families, For those who
during our reading program". don't know me, my name is
Rachel.

On Tuesday mornings I get to

spend time with your children in
the mara kai at the school,
showing them how to grow fruit
and vegetables which get
turned into yummy nutritious
school lunches three times a
week. Of course- it’s about SO much more than
gardening and healthy eating- lots of skills are
learned along the way. There's not much to re-
port in this edition- we have been rained off for
the last 3 weeks! Hopefully the next month will
be a bit drier for us. Have a great fortnight
