Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive at Leh


Welcome at the Leh airport from where you'll be transferred to hotel in your private vehicle. Check-in at
the hotel. Acclimatizing to the altitude is very important journey before doing any activity so we take rest
and venture out to the city market in evening for a casual stroll (No transport will be Provided for Market) .
Overnight stay at the Hotel.

Tip: At a height of more than 11,000 ft high, there will be a drop in oxygen level that will lead to acute
mountain sickness. You should rest and stay hydrated in order to acclimatize yourself.

Day 2: Excursion in Sham valley


Morning after breakfast drive to Alchi. Enroute visit Hall of fame, Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Patthar Sahib,
Confluence of Zanskar and Indus river. Now further continuing your journey way to Alchi. In the
everningreturn back to Hotel and ovenight stay in the leh.

MAGNETIC HILL : Defying the Law of gravity. This place is close to the Gurdwara Shri Patthar Sahib. It has
been noticed that when a vehicle is parked on neutral gear on this metallic road the vehicle slides up-hill
thats the Believe it or not of Ladakh!
CONFLUENCE OF THE ZANSKAR & INDUS : On way to Sham Valley before Nimu village one can have this
magnificent view of two rivers in wed-lock! In seasons they have different colors and flow and wildness.
ALCHI GOMPA: 70 Kms from Leh, on the banks of the Indus, is the Alchi Gompa dating a thousand years
back. One of its walls features thousands of miniature sized pictures of the Buddha. Three large sized
images made of clay and painted brightly are its focal attractions. No longer an active religious center, it is
looked after by monks from the Liker monastery. This is the only monastery amongst 34 monasteries,
which is not located on a hilltop.
LADAKH HALL OF FAME : The Hall of Fame is a glorious museum constructed by the Indian Army. It is worth
a visit for every citizen. You can see the memorabilia, eminent defense personalities with biographies,
images and weapons used uring the Kargil and other key strategic battles fought in Ladakh. And
belongings of the enemy soldiers found at war site. All the martyr and the gallantry awards Heres
something that you will be proud of our defense personnel who sacrificed themselves so that we could live
in peace.sunset in the leh.
*Optional - White water River Rafting (at your own cost) - You can go fro River Rafting from Phey to Nimmo
if you want to.

Day 3: Leh Enroute Khardungla Nubra Valley ( 280 k.m, 5-6 hrs journey )
Early morning proceed to Nubra Valley via the World Highest Motorable road (5602 Mts) Khardungla pass.
Arrive Nubra and proceed for a visit to the White Sand Dunes at Hunder. You can enjoy the camel ride (On
Own). Later if time permits visit Hunder and Diskit monasteries and check in at Deluxe Camp. Evening at
leisure. Overnight at the camp.
KHARDUNGLA PASS: The road journey to Nubra valley leads through Khardung La pass (The highest
Motorable road in the world) 18,390 ft. around 39 Kms. Away from Leh. There are two checkpoints on the
both sides of the pass. Khardong is the first village of Nubra valley at higher altitude than Deskit and other
villages.

DESKIT VILLAGE: Deskit is the main village of headquarter of Nubra valley, which has a small market
consisting of a row of shops and about 500 years old Gompa on the hilltop. Spectacular view of the valley
can be seen form the monastery.
DESKIT GOMPA: Deskit Gompa was founded by Lama Sherab Zangpo of Stod in about 1420 AD during the
reign of King Dragspa. About 100 monks are residing in the Gompa, which is a branch of Thikse Monastery.
The monastic festival called Gustor takes place on 20th and 21st days of the 12th month of Tibetan
calendar.
HUNDAR VILLAGE: Hundar is a beautiful village to stay with lot of trees and you will really enjoy your stay
at Hundar. It has a small monastery and ruined fort above the village. The walk or Camel Safari (Double
Hump bacterian camels) from Hundar to Deskit, through sand dunes for two hours is wonderful (on own).
Tip: Dont forget to enjoy hot Maggi at the highest Maggi point of the world in Khardung La.

Day 4: Nubra to Pangong tso via ( Warilla / Shyok ) ( 5hrs. journey )


Post breakfast, drive to Pangong tso via Shyok village. Enroute explore the mound of earthen monastic
dwellings, crowned by the Gompa. The valley is blessed with a beautiful stream flowing through it,
originating from the lake, giving a greenish tincture to the otherwise dry landscape around. Apart from
flora this area is rich in fauna too. You can see a lot of Himalayan Marmots around the area. However, the
main attraction of this circuit is the grand Pangong Tso, which you would reach by early evening. The
mesmerizing beauty and the fantastic view of Tso places it a league above anything you have seen so far.
Overnight stay at Pangong.

Day 5: Pangong Tso - Leh ( Shanti Stupa ) ( 150 k.m, 5 hrs. )


After breakfast drive back to Leh. En route, cross Chang la pass after driving through Durbuk and Tangtse
village situated in the Changthang region of Ladakh. Later visit the Sindhu Ghat and Thiksey monastery
followed by Shey Palace, There is also a symbolic salute to the brave soldiers of the country. Witness
traditional dance performances by local artists from various parts of the country. Then visit The Druk
White Lotus School Rancho School. Reach Leh in the evening and visit the Shanti Stupa. The sunset is the
perfect backdrop you can wish for. Head back to the hotel by late evening and overnight stay at the hotel.

The Druk White Lotus School Rancho School The school appeared in the famous movie 3 IDIOTS. Later you
may also indulge in a little photo shoot if you get a chance to witness the blessed the sunset in the leh.

Day 6: Bid the Fairy land Good Bye


After a scrumptious breakfast, complete all the signing out formalities and head to the Leh airport. Board
the flight and get back to home with grand memories.

FAQ's

How to reach Ladakh?


The best way to reach Ladakh is to board flight directly to Leh airport (Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport).
If you are planning to travel via road then you can choose between Manali and Srinagar. Srinagar - Leh
route opens in May and Manali - Leh route opens in June.

Best time to visit Ladakh

The best time to visit Leh is between May and September when the weather is the warmest. Ladakh
doesn't experience rain like elsewhere in India, so the monsoon season is the perfect time to travel to Leh.

What is Acute mountain sickness (AMS) and how can we prevent it?
AMS is a negative health effect of high altitude, caused by acute exposure to low amounts of oxygen at
high altitude. To avoid AMS, travelers should take proper care by giving enough time to acclimatize with
the change in weather and have maximum water intake to remain hydrated.

Minimum days required to explore Ladakh?


You'd require minimum 6 days to explore Leh city and areas around.

Can visitors hire bikes or cars in Ladakh? How tough is it to hire vehicles?
Yes, you can hire automobiles on rent in Ladakh. However, vehicles outside of Ladakh (other than JK 10
registration no.) are not permissible in Ladakh region by the order of Leh Taxi union. Bikes (RE 350 cc / 500
cc / Thunderbird / Avenger, etc.) are available on rent in Leh market at nominal price of 1500-2000 INR per
day (without fuel). To hire bikes, you need to deposit the security amount (around 5,000 INR per bike -
negotiable) and must carry D.L. and 1 other original valid I'd proof along with you. Since roads are rough in
Ladakh, tyres might get deflated so we would suggest you to hire backup vehicle and mechanic too.

What about oxygen level in Ladakh? is it safe for visitors?


Most of the places in Ladakh are located above the altitude of 10,000 ft. which may result in less intake of
oxygen and higher breathing rate. Visitors with breathing problems must consult a doctor before planning
the trip. Acclimatising and remaining hydrated is recommended. Avoid alcohol and smoking on Day 1.

Can I find ATMs while on a trip to Ladakh?


You will find ATMs of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank and Punjab
National Bank in Leh city. Outside Leh city, there are no ATMs.

What documents do I need to carry for Ladakh trip?


You should carry at least one government-issued identity card as it is needed while applying for inner line
permit and at certain places, to register at the check post.

What kind of accommodation is available in Ladakh?


While visiting Ladakh you will find that there are four different categories graded to a hotel- A, B, C, D.
When it comes to A class hotels, their facilities and services are simply comparable to any 3-star hotel.
Each hotel in Ladakh is designed with the traditional architecture of the region and feature oversized
rooms equipped with modern amenities. These rooms are furnished with Ladakhi and Tibetan dcor.

What kind of clothes should one pack for Leh Ladakh?


For daytime, normal travel outfits like T-shirts, shorts and trek pants are good but for nighttime, jackets
and pullovers are needed. If you are planning to trek or camp, make sure to carry warmer clothes,
raincoats and waterproof shoes.

What are the options for restaurants and eateries in Leh Ladakh?
Some of the famous eateries of Leh include Tibetan Kitchen which serves delectable local cuisine (momos

are highly recommended), Chopsticks Noodle Bar where travelers can go for savory Chinese food and
Gesmo restaurant thats famous for breakfasts. On a trip to Khardung La pass one must try some Maggi and
tea at the worlds highest Maggi point.

Do credit/debit cards work in hotels and restaurants over there?


Yes, credit/debit cards are accepted in a few hotels and restaurants but 2% service tax is charged.
However, it is best to carry some cash for hassle-free payments.

What are the popular festivals of Ladakh?


Hemis Festival, Saka Dawa Festival and Ladakh Festival are the most famous festivals that one should
attend while on their trip.
