As early as 1997, the first Diesel vehicle series
was fitted with a Common Rail System. Since then,

Exhaust-gas treatment DeNOx systems


DeNOx stands for the exhaust-gas treatment for diesel
fuel-injection systems to remove most of the nitrous
oxides from exhaust gases.

The diagnostics at the vehicle / system are carried out


primarily with a diagnostics tester (e.g. KTS 540).
However, this is not sufficient to detect hydraulic,
pneumatic or mechanical faults in the system. This is
why the additional diagnostics technology (offboard
test equipment) is necessary to perform advanced
troubleshooting on components, lines, interfaces etc.
