A. Learning Objectives
 This activity is intended to make the students to :

1. The students are able to mention expression of asking, giving, and responding
suggestion.
2. The students are able to complete a simple conversation which contains the
expression of asking, giving and responding suggestion by using correct grammar
and vocabulary.
3. The students are able to use the expression of asking, giving, and responding
suggestion based on the real common matter in daily life in a form of dialog
orally.

B. Teaching Material

1. MATERIAL 1
Objective 1 will be acheived in material 1 : The students will observe the
expressions used in the dialog. The teacher will guide the students to determine and
distinguish the expression of asking, giving, and responding suggestion.
1. Activity 1

Fina : Morning Ayu, My best friend, you look bad today, what happened to you?
Ayu : Oh, it is only a little problems.
Fina : please, tell me, maybe I can give the solutions
Ayu : Ok. I feel sad because I do not have money to pay for the college tuitions, I

C. Teaching and Learning Activity
o Pre – Activity
Set Induction : the way the teacher opens the class
The teacher uses brainstorming and continued by explaining the objective of the
day’s lesson.
“Hello my students, how are you today? It is very good to see you again in this
class. Is there any your friends absent today? First of all, let me check your
attendance list (call the students’ name). This room feels so hot, I think we should
turn on the air conditioner, right?(giving suggestion to the class). (Asking the
students and make suggestion for them; like hair, footwear, clothes, etc as an
action of stimulating the students about today’s lesson). So, do you know what we
are going to learn this morning? yes, we will learn about ho to ask, give, and
respond suggestion. What is suggestion? Suggestion is the expression of someone
giving recommendation or advice to others in daily life. We usually ask suggestion if
we have problem of confusion and we also can give and respon suggestion for
someone who ask us about everything. It is one of the important part for you to
learn in order you can use this expression whenever, wherever, and to whomever
you are. So now let’s begin the lesson.

o Whilst- Activity
- Activity 1
1. The students read a dialog of expressing suggestion.
2. The students try to observe the expression used in the dialog (decide
asking, giving suggestion)
3. The students differenciate the expression between asking, giving, and
responding suggestion

- Activity 2
1. The students work in pair.
2. The students try to complete the missing sentences in the dialog
3. The students and the teacher discuss the answer

- Activity 3
1. The students are given exercise of the use of suggestion expression in
multiple choice questions
2. The students and the teacher discuss the answer together

- Activity 4
1. The students are given some pictures depicting someone who need
suggestion
2. The students, with their partner, have to choose one of the picture and try to
make a dialog of asking, giving suggestion based on the situation in the
picture
3. The students present their product of dialog in front of the class.
o Post-Activity
“ Well students, I think our time is almost over, then, what did you get from the lesson
just now? (About how to express asking and giving suggestion). Okay, today we have
learnt about the expression of asking, giving and responding suggestion. So,when we
can use the suggestion expression? ( when someone is in problem, confusion, etc).
Good! And then, what expression can we use to ask suggestion? (use how about...?
would you like to give me suggestion...?). Great! Then what about the expression of
giving suggestion? (I suggest you... You should... I think... etc). Excellent! So, do you
all understand ? is there any more question that you think you have to clarify?. Okay
students, this is the end of our lesson today, thank you for your coming, have a good
time, see you again in the next meeting! Bye bye!”.

D. Evaluation
- Evaluation for Reading : the students have to make a dialog based on the situation in
the picture provided by the teacher, and in the end, they present their dialog with their
pair in front of the class orally.
