Introduction
In the last section, I provided eight wonderful artifacts that were filled with diligent planning to show
that I am ready to teach at the Elementary level. My artifacts included, two lesson plans, one at for my Grade
4/5 split class in Language Arts and the other for my Grade 2 classroom in Math. I also included, a math
assessment that I used to assess my students at the end of my math lesson, a reflection from my first student
teaching placement, my ELED student assessment from EDL650, and three technology artifacts from my EDU
571 class. These artifacts not only show a mastery of planning and teaching skills; they show a variety of
I have connected these artifacts to a variety of Curriculum and Professional Standards. In the field of
Education, standards are very important as they help guide educators on what content to teach their students and
how to teach this content. Without these guidelines, there would be no structure and students would not all
have the same basis of knowledge. Standards help provide the foundation for each grade, and expectations are
In the next section, I will define each standard, and connect it to the artifacts that show my mastery of
The Interstate New Teachers Assessment and Support Consortium (INSTAC) were put into place to
“provide instructional support to new teachers and raise the level of learning in U.S classrooms” (INSTAC).
The INSTAC standards are professional development standards that are made up of ten standards to help new
teachers reach essential knowledge required to meet the learning goals to provide an enriched learning
experience for students in the classroom. These standards are split into three main sections which include: The
Learner and Learning, Content, and Professional Responsibility, These standards help teachers to focus on the
ways that they teach as opposed to the curriculum that they teach
and goals through the said standards listed under this code. Educators will agree to follow a set of principles
that can help aid in their own exercise of professional judgement. These principles of professional development
include: the responsibilities that educators will be required to uphold for their students.

The International Society for Technology Education for Teachers and Students (ISTE) are standards that
aid educators for exploring technology in the classroom. As our society in constantly evolving with technology,
it is important for educators to keep up with the vast amounts of technology, as well as incorporating it into the
