Welcome to Glasgow Metropolitan College Library Services
Welcome to the enhanced Library Services available to all at Glasgow Metropolitan College.
Library Services provide students with access to modern, well resourced libraries at both
North Hanover Street and Cathedral Street sites. College Library Services exist to help you
succeed in your studies and provide access to significant up-to-date book collections, online
resources and advanced ICLT facilities.

This is a year during which there will be a great deal of movement in developing Library
Services. The developments noted here represent no more than a start to this process. All
suggestions will be welcomed. To this end, Customer Comment boxes have been installed at
each site Library. Alternatively, contact the Chief Librarian,
tony.donnelly@glasgowmet.ac.uk, or phone 0141 566 1664.

Borrowing Entitlement
As for services, staff and students may borrow materials from both site Libraries. The book
collections at each site support the curriculum taught at that particular location, though
students will be able to access electronic resources relevant to all Glasgow Metropolitan
College academic disciplines across all sites.

Library users may borrow six titles, for a period of up to 28 days. Multimedia titles count as
one title. Readers may borrow two leisure DVD’s at any one time. Material may be renewed
via the Library Catalogue, at each site Library or by phone. Overdue loans will generate fines.
Overdue materials are charged at the following rates:

10p per title, per day, up to a maximum fee of £2.00 per title.

Borrowers are reminded that any overdue material must be returned before any fines can
be cleared. Failure to clear any outstanding balances may result in
restrictions placed upon access to other Library services.

Users are encouraged to recommend books for addition to the collection. Recommendations
to either mary.dignam@glasgowmet.ac.uk (Cathedral Street recommendations),
paul.gorman@glasgowmet.ac.uk (North Hanover Street recommendation) or place them in
