Year Sales
2014 20,000
2015 25,000
2016 30,000
2017 35,000
2018 40,000 (2x6)

Output:

(6x2)

Step 1: Check the dimensions of the input array. In this particular case we have an input array with 2 columns and 6 rows (2x6).
Step 2: Make an output array by interchanging the row and column numbers from the input array. Therefore we have an array with dimensions as 6 columns
and 2 rows (6x2).
Step 3: Select the entire output array.
Step 4: Type TRANSPOSE function at the first cell of the output array i.e. B13 in our case.
Step 5: The input to TRANSPOSE function which is an "array" is our input array.
Step 6: An array function does not close with a ')' in Excel. We have to use CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to close an array function like TRANSPOSE.

Key Notes:
Note the curly braces "{/}" in the formula bar which distinguish an array function from normal Excel functions.
Try deleting any particular data point from the output array and you will get an error message, "You cannot change part of an array". Therefore if you ever
have to delete data, either delete the entire set or none.
Learning Outcome: Understand the application of MATCH function.
