What Constitutes
Sexual Harassment?
• Sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination that
violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Many
states have also passed their own laws that include
prohibitions against harassment based on other sex‐
based characteristics, including gender identify, and
gender expression.
• Sexual harassment is generally defined as unwelcome
sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and other
verbal, non‐verbal, and physical conduct of a sexual
nature that interferes with an employee’s work or is
made a condition of employment.
