Course Description

Business Plan I

At the end of the subject, the students should be able to prepare the first phase
of the business plan. The course will cover the features of a feasibility study of the plan
which includes the overview of the business model, description of the business pre
operating activities, comprehensive market needs assessment and marketing plan,
product prototyping and the design the production operations plan.

Social Entrepreneurship

At the end of the subject the students should be able to recognize the social problems
and design interventions in achieving a social change by employing entrepreneurial
principles, processes and operations. The course will cover several socio-corporate
researches and case studies to completely define a particular social problem and then
organizing, creating and managing a social venture to attain the desired change for a
particular company and its target community stakeholders.

Business Law and Taxation-

This course covers basic principles of law in relation to contracts and obligations. It
involves discussion of the nature, sources, kinds and extinguishments of obligations. It
will also cover provision on negotiable instruments. Further, the course provides students
with the basic knowledge on income taxation. This will also cover the nature, scope and
limitations and other basic principles in relation to business taxation and its processes.

Service

The course will cover on the discussions on the whereabouts on commercial enterprise
that provides work performed in an expert manner by an individual or team for the benefit
of its customers. This will include discussions on the typical service business provides
intangible products, such as accounting, banking, consulting, cleaning, landscaping,
education, insurance, treatment, transportation and other services relevant in the
industry.

Service Management-

This course tackles the integrated concepts of supply chain management and service
offerings. It includes the deep understanding of service strategy, service offerings &
positioning, go-to-market strategy and service management structures. It also focuses
on how to provide service value to the customer and also on the customer relationship.
At the end of the semester the student is expected to design a service management
portfolio.

Events Management-

It covers the elements of preparing and organizing business events such as conventions,
trade fairs, business product exhibits, product-expo, forums, seminars and conferences.
This course prepares the students in conceptualizing, planning, organizing and
implementing the said projects and events. It emphasizes the value of teamwork in the
execution of plans.
Agri-tourism Management (w/experiential learning activity)

The course should enable the students to explore business opportunities in


agribusiness and tourism industry in the region, a major component of the nation's
economic progress. The course brings to the fore the need for scientific management
a n d professionalism to improve the state of agriculture, combining it with the concepts
and practices of business and tourism. It tackles on the commercial enterprise that links
agricultural production and/or processing with tourism in order to attract visitors onto a
farm, ranch, or other agricultural business for the purposes of entertaining and/or
educating the visitors and generating income. Students are expected to explore
agribusiness and tourism opportunities through an experiential exposure from various
existing agri-tourism institutions in the nearby locality.

Strategic Management
-
This subject involves setting objectives, analysing the competitive environment, analysing
the internal organization, evaluating strategies and ensuring that management rolls out
the strategies across the organization. At the end of the semester the students shall be
able to design a comprehensive strategic management plan that extends to internal and
external communication practices as well as tracking the process to ensure that the
planned enterprise meets its targeted goals.

Foreign Language in Practice

This course introduces the students to the fundamentals of Mandarin Language by


learning language structures, functions and related culture knowledge. It further develops
their listening, speaking and reading skills that will enable the students to communicate
the basics of the aforesaid language to those potential mandarin-speaking business
clienteles.

Second Semester

Business Plan Preparation II-

At the end of the subject, the students should be able to prepare the second phase
of the business plan. The course will cover the features of a feasibility study of the plan
which includes the preparation of the comprehensive management plan, financial
management plan, socio-economic plan and other relevant appendices and
documentation for the plan.

Seminar in Entrepreneurship

As the name implies, the course will summarize and integrate successful practices
and relevant trends in business through a seminar workshop platform. The course would
require a group of students to invite one to three successful entrepreneurs in the locality
to relate their experience and for the students to assess and look for the entrepreneurial
traits, strategies and best practices that made them successful.

Programs and Policies on Enterprise Development

This course defines the scope or spheres within which programs and
decisions can be taken by the levels of management in a business organization. It
tackles on how entrepreneurs must deal with the problems and issues every time
they are to make vital policies leading towards strategic decisions geared towards
attaining a long-term enterprise development. Students should be able to craft
SMART business policies that will serve as guidelines in governing the roles and
responsibilities of top level management, the significant issues affecting
organizational success and the decisions affecting organization.

Business Law and Taxation II

This course covers the continuation of the topics relative to Business Laws and
Taxation I. This will include updates on business laws and taxation such as the TRAIN
Law.

Franchising/Distributorship Structure

This subject describes the nature and operation of a franchise and distributorship
business. It highlights the key player’s responsibilities, strategic structure of operation,
requirements for training, document for application in the business and other relevant
processes for franchising and distributorship operation.

Franchising

This subject describes the nature and operation of a franchise business. It details
out the operation of a franchise business to include document and operational
requirements. It also highlights various case studies of the franchise businesses that
depicts their strategic practices. At the end of the course the students are expected to
learn and appreciate the concepts and context of how to operate a franchise business.

Wholesaling and Retail Management

This subject discusses the whereabouts of how to manage and operate a


wholesaling and retailing business. The students are taught how to design and develop
novel strategies on how to handle the logistics of wholesaling and retailing to customers.
The students are expected to present a channel distribution and costs management
portfolio at the end the semester.

Production and Operation Management

This subject covers the discussions on how to structure and effectively manage
the enterprise production and operation aspects. This will introduce the various elements
and relevant concepts in Production and Operations Management. It will also present
some of the POM tools that can be applied to a wide variety of situations. This course will
provide an integrated framework for understanding the field as a whole. By the end of
the course, the student should be able to understand and appreciate POM; know its
importance in the success of the business; and learn the major POM concepts,
quantitative tools, and techniques that are used in tactical and strategic decisions.

Foreign Language in Practice 2


This course introduces the students to the fundamental of the Nihongo Language by
learning language structures, functions and related culture knowledge. It further

First Summer

Internpreneurship (Business Immersion of 240 hrs.)

This course is intended for the students to have the experiential learning exposure to
actual operating enterprise relative to their chosen industry. The students are required to
assists entrepreneurs in their marketing, production/service, management and financial
operations of the business. At the end of the course the students are expected to come
up with an action research intended to help improve the enterprise in their operation.

E commerce (Concepts and Designs)

This course aims to teach the students the basics of conducting business and commerce
using the internet facilities and network. It introduces students to the tools and systems
and skills needed to enable them to design and conduct electronic business and
commerce.

Methods of Research

This subject is more on the mechanics of conducting basic and advance research
methodologies appropriate for business contexts. The students are required to conduct a
full blown research study relative to understand a business phenomenon that could be of
great help in planning and decision making efforts for aspiring entrepreneurs.
