God, our great Shepherd, it is easy to lose sight of your way for us. We hope that love conquer
hate, that light shines in our shadows, that life is stronger than death – yet our lips are filled
bitter words, our lives are weak and shallow, that darkened corners of the world beckon to us,
Restore our sight to see you living with us. Restore our hope so we may trust you. Restore our
speech so we might praise your great gift to us in Jesus Christ. Amen

AS WE SERVE…
When we serve Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, this service that is guided by the spirit of power, of
love and of self-discipline, (1 Timothy 1:7b), we gradually realize that solidarity/unity is an imperative.
Solidarity is both a goal as well as a process. When Jesus asked His disciples in the Garden of
Gethsemane to watch with Him one short hour as He prayed, He was seeking solidarity. When the Christ
walked with Cleopas and His friend on that lovely road to Emmaus and listened to them unburdened
themselves, He lived solidarity. When the Risen Lord told His followers before He ascended to God, “I
will be with you always…” he was promising solidarity. – Sharon Rose Joy R. Duremdes
