Information is the driving force for any business. Management must take
decisions that directly influence the goals of business organisations. The rapid
emergence of MIS in organisations during the last one and half decades, has
created an intense demand for well trained, capable MIS managers to plan,
organise, direct and control the powerful technology of computer based
information system. MIS managers are required to know the systems approach
to management, coupled with the ability to participate in design and utilisation of
the computer based information system.
Unit 2 mainly deals with information, data and the database concepts.
