Please state the reason(s) for why you wish to pursue the International
Programme in Management for Executives at IIM Lucknow. (200 words)

After graduating in civil engineering, I have worked on large infrastructural projects on various
roles such as Principal Engineer, DGM, Associate Director and in different countries like UK, UAE,
Taiwan, Saudi Arabia besides India. I have also worked in execution of some of the prestigious
metro systems in the world. London, Chennai, Riyadh Metro are few of them. Over the years, I
have met with challenging situations and worked with people of different nationalities. All of these
experiences have enriched me both professionally and personally. While I gained experience, I
felt the need for new management skills and techniques to move towards increased
responsibilities and run through the hierarchy system in an organisation. Backed by excellent
faculty, IPMX offered IIML, is one of the best of its kind. Further, Curriculum is focused on
developing strategic thinking, critical analytical skills for understanding 'bigger picture' and
prepare participants for leadership roles. Overseas module is a key element, where students get
global perspectives. Other key features are industry interface and electives such as strategy and
operations, which are the areas of my interest. Hence, I believe that course will assist in achieving
my career objectives. Further, Institute’s strategic location will have minimal impact on my
spouse’s career and family.

2. Please describe your short-term and long-term career goals. (200 words)

My short term goals shall be (1) Getting through admission process and enrolled for IPMX 2017-
2018, (2) After completion of IPMX, I would like to work with an Engineering Farm / EPC company
as Section Head, Director of a business unit. Preferably in the field of Rail & Transport
Infrastructure Sector, (3) Apply and practice skills developed through management program.

In long term, my goals shall be (1) To see myself as manager of managers/CEO/MD. Without a
doubt, the most important long term goal of a professional should be to one day achieve the
highest position in the company, so as to complete the full circle of professional life. (2) Personal
and professional life balance, I feel that both aspects of life are very important and keeping a
health family life is very important for successful professional life. (3) Ensuring financial stability
for comfortable life style for future. (4) Keep health fit as health is wealth. Keep stress out of mind
and set up strict exercise plan. (5) After retirement, I would like to work for betterment of society
and would like to be associated NGO, who work for education, skill development for poor and
needy.

3. Please describe 3-5 characteristics that best describe you. (50 words)
I consider myself as an articulate, analytical, focused hardworking team player. Once I am
assigned a job, I always analyse the situation, try to figure out pros and cons and then take
decision. I also find alternatives, discuss with colleagues, work hard to execute it meticulously
and remained focused on its accomplishment.

4. Please provide any other information that you would like to share in
support of your application. (150 words)
My engineering degree has given a strong foundation to my analytical skills since civil designing
involves a lot of long, complex and intricate calculations and the application of basic mathematics
skills. For example, one of my notable achievement is designing of longest span railway bridge in
J&K in India. The bridge was 154m long span and 24m high resting on 90m high column. As an
engineer, I faced challenge in dealing with wind effect on the bridge as it was in hilly area. In order
to resolve the issue, I had produced numerous design calculation reports, which involve complex
analysis for different scenarios, evaluation of their consequences and management of numerous
data. Most of my carrier involve such activities. It goes without saying that a structural engineer
must possess ability to think critically, have problem solving skills and can work meticulously. I
believe that this will have positive impact on my application.
