Advantages compared with the competitors:

1. Manufacturing and certification of the systems according to ISO 9001. Thus a

high product quality and equipment safety is ensured.

2. The measuring systems are an own production of Berthold Technologies, in

which all suggestions and tips arising from good co-operation with sugar
factories and research departments are integrated.

3. The measuring system developed specially for the sugar industry; Micro-Polar
Brix possesses the frequency licenses according to FCC (Federal
Communications Commission) and ETSI (European Telecommunications
Standards Institute). Therefore, you won’t have problems with the authorities
as operators of these "radio units". Furthermore, you are guaranteed that the
measuring instrument is in conformance with interference immunity and
emitted radio interference.

4. Microwaves transmission with multi-frequency technology. That means, in

comparison to the competition, the high frequency module works at a
frequency not statically fixed but at a multiplicity of frequency points. This
technology enables better signal identification and higher accuracy.

5. The equipment dynamic of 70 dB is clearly higher than comparable systems

from our competitors. The high equipment dynamic and/or the signal-noise
ratio (SNR) enables short measuring times and high accuracies.

6. Micro-Polar Brix possesses a measuring and a reference channel, whereby the

equipment and cable drift are compensated. Changes of the ambient
conditions e.g. variations in temperature have no influence on the measuring
signal. The competition does not possess such a reference channel.

7. Stainless steel wall housing, graphic display with automatic contrast

regulation.

8. 2 freely selectable current outputs e.g. concentration, concentration split or

temperature.

9. Our sensor focuses the microwave radiation specifically to the opposite

receiver. Thus, the susceptibility to interference by changes in the measuring
environment is clearly reduced compared to the round sources used by the
competition (e.g. due to the distance of the heating chamber).

10. Pipe measuring cell interior is absolutely smooth without any installations.

11. Software feature e.g.:

¾ Pause recognition

¾ Diagnostic function with data recording

¾ Graphic display

¾ Automatic calibration with equipment supported sampling. Thus complex

measuring value memoranda and PC evaluations are not necessary.

¾ Up to 4 products can be calibrated using Micro-Polar Brix. Product switch

is carried out either locally or by digital input from the process control
room. With this feature, different products can be measured accurately
using a Micro-Polar Brix, for example in a crystallizer.
