Essay: Role of Youth in Nation building and progress.

“Youth is the joy, the little bird that has broken out of the eggs and is eagerly waiting to spread
out its wings in the open sky of freedom and hope.”

Youth is the period between childhood and adult hood, while Nation building is the group of
people living under certain territory and their development of country in connection with future.
Youth all over the history has been revolutionary force. Youth is that phase of life where dreams
are built and a bright future is foreseen. These are the years to foster moral principles, construct
value system and begin an all-new journey on the path of the 'right'. With the start of any cricket
tournament, no matters which team wins, Cricket wins, Youthfulness will win. The spirit of
oneness will win. United we can achieve many successes. Nation’s strength is in its youth. As
said by the great poet Henry Wadsworth in his poem “My lost youth”:

‘A boy’s will is the wind’s will,

And the thoughts of youth are long, long thoughts.'

Youth of Pakistan:

Pakistan is our beloved homeland which is going through challenging time. We can play a
significant role in the development of the country not only economically but also by morally and
practically. We have to make our efforts to grow Pakistan and fulfill the basic needs of the
people which are below the poverty line. We are always aware of the fact that Pakistan is in
danger, it is basically strong in the field of weapons but between the people of Pakistan there is
so much difference and contradictions that they don’t even try to unite as one.

Scholar, Dr. Tariq Rehman said that “Youth has a significant role in present dismal situation
and we need to impart civic education to secure our better future.”

Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah used his ability and skills and by showing extra-
ordinary courage, which he manifested in the process of creation of Pakistan and the fight he
fought in all quarters during his lifetime.

The greatest poet of east Sir Iqbal wrote:

Hadsa Jo Abhi Perda E Aflaak Mai Hay

Aks Uska Meray Aaena Aay Adraak Mai Hay…
Na Sitaroon Mai Hay Na Gardish E Aflaak Mai Hay
Teri Taqdeer Meray Naala E Baybaak Mai Hay…!!

We should not lose the right path and should represent good patterns of behavior for the coming
generations. We are Young Seagulls, trying to fly without feathers. The problem of the
emotional and impatient Pakistanis is identified. The solution is in our hands. They need to
change themselves and their attitude and approach must base on sensibility, responsibility,
tolerance and patience. We will achieve a Positive and Green Pakistan. INSHALLAH.

Significance of youth:

Kabhie aey naujawan Muslim! Tadabur bhe kiya tu ne,

WO kiya gurdun tha tu jiska hai aik tuta hua Tara…

The best investment under current scenarios would be empowering the youth. It is a fact that
the stronger the youth, the more developed the nation is. The role of the youth in the nation-
building occupies the central place. The countries which utilize their youth in as right direction
are more developed. The energy and brightness of minds of youth act as torch-bearer for a
nation. On the contrary, the countries which fail to realize the importance of the youth lag behind
in every department of life. Developed countries are totally aware of the worth of youth and
provide them education, employment; recreational activities etc, such healthy and competitive
environment prepare the youth to lead the country through thick and thin. It is the duty of the
government to provide the youth with ample opportunities to play their role in an effective
manner. The youth filled with patriotism would lead the nation to the front.

Youth is the problem solver. I believed that Youths are capable of solving the problems which is
being faced by every nation. Youths seems to have ability to face any challenges and problems.
Youth profound positive influence on their fellows. They have the power to transform their
nation into a better place.

Role of youth in development of nation:

The youth have following role and responsibilities towards their nation.
• They must get proper and complete education.
• Spread awareness and education among the masses about their rights and responsibilities.
• Help other youths in building confidence and pursuing the field of interest.
• Guide newcomers in every field on right lines.
• Promotes the fair image of the country before the world.
• Serve the country with their skills and talent in various fields.
• To refresh the culture, trend and traditions of the society.
• Help the government in the implementation of policies.
• They can play a vital role in the elimination of terrorism.
• Their vibrant ideas can show the country a new path towards prosperity.
• Young people have energy to try out things and the patience to learn from mistakes. Giving
them opportunities to plan, to decide and to work prepares them to face harsher realities in life.

Youth residents of Pakistan:

Pakistan has a large youth population. An estimated 103 million or 63% of the population fall
under the age of 25 years. Due to endemic poverty, the majority of youth in Pakistan do not have
the opportunity to experience a childhood. Male youth literacy rate is estimated to be 53% and
female youth literacy rate is even lower at 42%. As far employment is concerned 15% of the
youth is unemployed.

Weakness of youth:

Youth is wonderful. It’s a shame to waste it on young. Mark twain.

Due to lack of education crime is on high and violence is increasing in today's time. Our youth is
losing touch with a sense of right and wrong or good and bad. They have been badly affected by
an identity crisis, lack of assurance and low self-respect, a sense of desperation and trapped in a
culture marked by guns, violence and drugs. All this has resulted in an unstable economy, a
crushed confidence of foreign investors, lawlessness and a break-up of the social fabric.

Problems facing by youth:

The most impounding problem our youth is facing at present is frustration. The frustration as a
result of massive problems is increasing day by day. Unemployment is a multi-dimensional and
complex issue which starts a fierce circle of associated problems like involvement of youth in
politics, bank and household burglaries, social insecurity, lawlessness, use of drugs etc. This is
the result of carelessness of government towards utilization of the youth in a proper manner.

Poverty is a sort of disease which is weakening our youth. Due to lack of resources they are
unable to get quality education and pursue their field of interest. Saddest of all our youth in sheer
disappointment are committing suicide. Use of drugs, poverty, unemployment and failure in life
are the major reasons behind this curse. Lastly, the role of media in upbringing our youth has
been minimal throughout the history of Pakistan. Most of the youth find our TV programs non-
entertaining and unattractive. As a consequence of cultural invasion, our youth’s role in
promoting our country has been miserable.
Steps to formulate constructive youth:

“The foundation of every state is the education of youth”. Diogenes

In spite of the multiplicity of problems, it is still a right time for government to take some
pragmatic steps. Of the 15 largest countries in the world in terms of population, Pakistan has by
far the youngest population. Government should not regard the young population as a burden but
an asset. The best way to strengthen our youth is to provide them education. Not just any kind of
education, but the right kind of education which makes them scientific, logical, open-minded,
self respecting, responsible, honest and patriotic. We must become the change we want to see.
Keeping in view this fact, here are some suggestions to make good use of our youth.

• Competitive teachers must be recruited who could encourage and guide our youth to right lines.
• Politics must be prevented in the educational institutions.
• Parents should teach youngsters patience to face the difficulties and be steadfast.
• Youth should be given ample opportunities to prove and cash their skill in every field.
• Right men must be placed on right places.
• Youth should be clear about their future.
• Youth should be at arm’s length from the bad company.

Conclusion: The youth of today can do a marvelous job for the nation. With all the modern
means of this computer age, where everything seems to be possible, why can’t the youth override
the things done by the people in the past? We always consider the heroes of the past to be the
evergreen characters. But today the youth with the proper use of the modern facilities should be
evergreen characters for the times to come.

The youth might find a world of fraud around them, a world that preaches ethics but indulges in
all sorts of socially and ethically unacceptable human behavior. Our young stars in athletics and
sports have come on their own without government help. Internationally, we are nowhere in any
of the sports achievements, be it in Olympics or the Asian Game. We can only be proud of
cricket heroes, the king of chess and a few celebrities in athletics.

Iqbal and his words speaks the truth, it’s full of wisdom:
Though if this land is spoiled,
Its mean you need great toiled,
O' my eagles it’s time to stand,
For the land which is your sand!!
