Resources: CAE Gold textbook, a laptop, worksheets, the board
Time: 50 minutes
Procedure:
Warm-up
Time: 5’

Aim: - to make students feel relaxed
Target skills: listening and speaking
The teacher tells students a joke in English and asks the students to come up with other funny
jokes they know.

Pre-teaching
Time: 10’
Interaction: T  Ss, Ss  T
Aim: - to make students aware of the differences between the three grammar tenses they are
going to study
Target skills: reading, writing and speaking
The teacher writes on the board three different sentence and asks the students to work in pairs
and identify the grammar tenses used in those sentences and to match them with the past, the
present or the future time. The students analyze the sentences and tell their opinion about the used
sentences.
The other students give feedback on their classmates’ answers.

While-teaching
Time: 20’

Aim: - to make sure the students understand the concept of the perfect aspect correctly
Target skills: listening, reading, speaking and writing

Next, the teacher plays a video related to the perfect aspect and then he discusses it with the
students.
In pairs, the students put some phrases into a table related to the present, the past and the future.
When the students finish, the teacher starts to check their answers as a whole.

Post-teaching
Time: 10’

Aim: - to check the students’ level of understanding
Target skills: reading, writing and speaking
Next, the teacher asks students to help each other to write similar sentences about their life
experience, starting from his examples.
Different students read their sentences while the teacher and the other students give their
feedback about the answers.
After that, the teacher invites the students to do the 1st exercise from the worksheet in pairs. As
soon as they finish it, the teacher asks them to read their answers and to check as a whole.

Homework assignment
Time: 5’
Interaction: T ––> Ss
Aim: - to give students the opportunity to practice at home what they have acquired in class.

The teacher tells students to do at home the second exercise from their worksheet and to write
6 more sentences with the perfect aspect about their present and future (possible) achievements.
