F37 Software Installation Procedure

Rev.0

Purpose
This document describes how to install full software including OS to F37.
You are strongly requested to perform the update work referring to this document. Otherwise, the
update won’t be successfully completed and this may cause the boot-up failure in the worst case.

Scope
F37 currently running on the system software version from 1.0.0 up to 4.0.0.
Please note that the procedure is different depending on the current software version.

Estimated work time


Approximately 0.5 hours (excluding preparation work)

Preparation
 Microsoft Windows PC with DVD/Blu-ray drive,
DVD-R/BD-R writing software is installed, available hard disk space is 10Gbytes or more,
virus protection software with the latest virus definition file is installed and the latest OS
updates/patches are applied.

 Portable USB Blu-ray or DVD drive (Pioneer, BDR-XD05 series are recommended)

 Blank BD-R or DVD-R disk

1. Software installation disk preparation procedure


Prepare the software installation disk referring to this and following pages.
1.1 Decompress a downloaded file
Download a necessary file for F37 software installation disk from InfoShare web site.
Decompress a downloaded file with a utility tool for Zip Compression.

1.2 Confirm created files


After decompressing a Zip file, please confirm that there is a file named “xx-F37-x-1-1.iso”.
When you need to confirm that the file is not corrupted, please use following MD5 or SHA-1 hash on
a file.

1.3 Write Blu-ray(DVD) image file to BD-R(DVD-R) media


The created file named “xx-F37-x-1-1.iso“ at previous step is ISO 9660 image file. The ISO
9660 file is a disk image file and all information such as files and folders to be created on Blu-ray or
DVD are contained in this image file.
You can burn this image file onto a BD-R or DVD-R media (refer to the description of target media in
above table) by disk writing software (If your PC is running on Windows 7 and after, you can use
“Windows Disc Image Burner” to write the image file).
Following example shows that burning a disk with “Windows Disc Image Burner”. If you have other
disk writing software, use a similar function of “Burn ISO image file” in your writing software.

Insert blank BD-R or DVD-R media to the disk drive on your PC


Right-click on the disk image file
xx-F37-x-1-1.iso, and then select DV-F37-12-1-1.iso

[Burn disk image] from pop-up

If there is no selection of this from
pop-up menu, you will find [Windows
Disk image Burner] in the [Open
with…] menu.

When the window like a picture shown right appears, select


disk drive for burning, put the check mark on  Verify disc DV-F37-12-1-1.iso
after burning, and then click on the [Burn] button.
DVD-R Drive (E:)

To start burning the disc image, click Burn.

The window like a picture shown right appears and starts disk
writing. DV-F37-12-1-1.iso

After the writing process is completed, Verifying for the


burned disk starts. DV-F37-12-1-1.iso

After the whole process is completed, burned media is ejected


automatically and then shows the message “The disc image DV-F37-12-1-1.iso
has been successfully burned to disc.” in status window.

To close this tool, click on the [Close] button.

1.4 Confirm created Disk


With the steps described above, one software installation disk has been created.
Please confirm that a disk is in the good condition by using Windows Explorer on your PC. The
pictures blow shows the contents of DV-F37-12-1-1 and BD-F37-13-1-1.

WORK

After the confirmation of that the Blu-ray or DVD has no


problem, put the indication on the media like a picture shown
right. Do not put it on the disk’s recording surface. Software Installation disk
You can use this created media for multiple software installation XX-F37-X-1-1
work.

For F37 Ver.x.x.x only

The software installation disk to be used on the next page and after, is different depending on the
current system version on the machine. Please refer to the table below, and prepare correct disk
beforehand.

2. Software installation procedure (for ver.1 ~ Ver.3 machine)


Perform the software full installation on the F37 referring to this and following pages when the
machine is currently running on the software version Ver.1 ~ Ver.3.

All data in the HDD will be erased by performing the software full installation. If there is user
data such as stored image, preset on the HDD, please take a data backup beforehand.

The status of option software (SOP) will be kept even if you perform the software full
installation.

2.1 Overview of software installation


When you install the software into the HDD, this work is required. The software full installation
procedure is summarized as below.

Configuration confirmation When there is a user data in HDD, Make a backup

Operation check After restart the machine manually, enter the S/N
information on the maintenance screen, then
restoring the user data if necessary. Perform the
overall operation check.

2.2 Configuration confirmation


The following items will be deleted or initialized after performing the software installation. Make sure
that whether these items were installed/changed or not beforehand, then make a record for these
settings if necessary.
 All user data such as preset, stored image data, measurement result.
Take a backup data with using the “Back-up” function on the maintenance menu if necessary.
 Network configuration of the machine(Local IP address, subnet mask, router)

You can confirm the machine network configuration from “DICOM-Store, Send”
on the common preset menu.

 Machine log files

You can confirm the machine log files from “LOG” on the maintenance screen.
Take a backup of these if necessary.

 Printer property settings for digital B/W and color printer (UP-D897 and so on)

 Additionally installed software driver for PC printer

If you find any PC printer on the pull-down menu under the “Printer Property” on
the maintenance menu – OTHER, some software driver for PC printer was installed
on this machine.

 Additionally installed PM-F37-S001B(McAfee Embedded Control software)

If you find version information under the “McAfee Solidifier” on the maintenance
menu- SECURITY, the McAfee Embedded Control software was installed on this
machine.

 OB Measurement setting
You can confirm the OB Measurement setting on SYSTEM1 screen from
maintenance menu.

2.3 Installation Procedure


Perform the software installation on the F37 referring to this and following pages

Do not turn the machine off / Do not remove the USB device during accessing the hard
disk and/or the USB device.
When you connect some USB device into the machine, disconnect them before update
work.

(1) Follow the instruction below to set the machine to the maintenance mode.
Turn the machine off.
Remove the right side cover and main chassis cover, and then change the maintenance Dip SW
as below.

When you need to replace with new HDD, Turn the circuit breaker off and then replace it.

(2) Connect USB portable Blu-ray (or DVD) drive to the machine.
Use any USB port J304 though J308 (In the photo below, these are J304 and J305).

(3) Insert the created software installation disk that is created at previous step into the connected
USB drive. Change the BIOS setting on the machine in order to boot-up from created disk.
Turn the machine on, and then hold down DEL key on the operation panel.

If you couldn’t get BIOS screen and machine is normally start-up, turn the
machine off after ultrasound image is displayed and then, repeat the instruction
from step (3).

(4) When you get following screen, enter ep5608 and then press [ (ENTER)] key on the
full-keyboard.

(5) By operating arrow key on the full-keyboard, select ”Boot” menu.

(6) By operating arrow key on the full-keyboard, select ”1st Boot Device” and then press [
(ENTER)] key. Select connected USB drive (in the figure below, this is [USB:PIONEER
BD-RW]) from displayed list, then press [ (ENTER)] key.

(7) Make sure that ”1st Boot Device” is set to DVD drive on the screen.

(8) By operating arrow key on the full-keyboard, select ”Exit” menu.

(9) By operating arrow key on the full-keyboard, Select ”Save Changes and Exit” and then
press [ (ENTER)] key.
The message ”Save configuration changes and exit setup?” appears. Select [OK] and press [
(ENTER)] key.

(10) The machine is automatically rebooted and following message is displayed on the monitor. Then,
press [ (ENTER)] key immediately.

If the following message is displayed, press [ (ENTER)] key on the full-keyboard to continue.

If the machine doesn’t boot-up from installation disk and start-up normally, turn
the machine off after ultrasound image is displayed and then, repeat the
instruction from step (10).

(11) The following screen appears and the machine boot-up from installation disk.

(12) After two minutes passed, the following disk image burning tool “SIRBRE” is started from
installation disk. Put the check mark in the ”Shutdown system after install” box, and then
click on the [Install Disk Image] button.

(13) If the following window appears, click on the [OK] button to continue.

From this step, the displayed screen seems to stop, but DO NOT make any
operation until software installation is completed. While the HDD access LED on
the operation panel is lighting and blinking, the installation is in progress.

(14) After around 2 or 3 minutes, the following screen appears. During installation process, the
installation status can be confirmed with progress bar at the bottom of screen.

Although it depends on the reading speed of connected USB drive, this process may take up to
fifteen minutes.

(15) After completion of whole installation process, the machine automatically turns off. Remove the
USB portable drive from the machine.

(16) Change the BIOS setting on the machine to the default.


Turn the machine on, and then hold down “DEL” key on the operation panel.

If you couldn’t get BIOS screen and machine is normally start-up, turn the
machine off after ultrasound image is displayed and then, repeat the instruction
from step (17).
Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key

(17) When you get following screen, enter ep5608 and then press [ (ENTER)] key on the
full-keyboard.

(18) By operating arrow key on the full-keyboard, select ”Exit” menu.

(19) By operating arrow key on the full-keyboard, Select ”Load Optimal Defaults” and then
press [ (ENTER)] key.
The message ” Load Optimal Defaults?” appears. Select [OK] and press [ (ENTER)] key.

(20) By operating arrow key on the full-keyboard, Select ”Save Changes and Exit” and then
press [ (ENTER)] key.
The message ”Save configuration changes and exit setup?” appears. Select [OK] and press [
(ENTER)] key.

(21) The usual ultrasound image screen is not displayed after the machine started. Instead, Windows
OS screen is displayed.

Right-click on the “Start” menu at lower-left corner


of acreen, and then select “Explore” from pop-up
menu.

(22) Excute the following file by doulbe-click on it.


C:\BeHITS\ChangeShell.bat for Ver.1.* machine
C:\BeHITS_PQC\ChangeShell.bat for Ver.2~3 machine

(23) After following screen appears, Trun the power swicth off from the operation panel.

2.4 Additional configuration after software installation


Perform additional configuration after software installation if necessary.
(1) Change the maintenance Dip SW as below in order to set the maintenance Dip SW on the
machine to default setting and then put all removed covers back.

(2) Turn the machine on.

The machine booting-up in this time takes longer than usual. DO NOT turn the
machine off during a HDD access LED on the operation panel is lighting and
blinking.
When the message shown at right appears on
screen, the firmware update for PC boards
will take place. DO NOT turn the system off
until ultrasound image is displayed on the
monitor. This process may take up to three
minutes.

(3) If SOP-F37-48 (McAfee Embedded Control


software) was installed, the message shown at
right appears on screen, press [ENTER]
switch on the operation panel to continue the
booting-up process.
Because this message indicates that
PM-F37-S001B is not installed on the
machine, you have to re-install this at next
step.

(4) In addition, the Initial Configuration setting


window appears. Select OB Measurement to
be used with referring to the section “System
Reset” on the service manual “Volume2:
Chapter 3 Service Information”, and then
click on the [Exit] button.

(5) The machien automalically restarts.


Enter the serial number of the machine in the column “Serial No.” on the Set-up screen with
referring to the section “Maintenance Menu” on the service manual “Volume2: Chapter 3
Service Information”.
Then if necessary, perform additional configuration and software/driver installation with
reference to the record that taken at step 2.2. Perform the additional work with referring to the
section “Maintenance menu” on the service manual “Volum2: Chapter3 Service Information” for
PC printer driver installation procedure, and SOP-F37-xx installation procedure for
PM-F37-S001B (McAfee Embedded Control software) installation procedure.
(6) After all configuration work is completed, reboot the machine manually.
And then please perform the overall operation check including network communication.

3. Software installation procedure (for ver.4 ~ machine)


Perform the software full installation on the F37 referring to this and following pages when the
machine is currently running on the software version Ver.4 and higher.

All data in the HDD will be erased by performing the software full installation. If there is user
data such as stored image, preset on the HDD, please take a data backup beforehand.

The status of option software (SOP) will be kept even if you perform the software full
installation.

3.1 Overview of software installation


When you install the software into the HDD or replace with Backend board EU-9155*, this work is
required. The software full installation procedure is summarized as below.

3.2 Configuration confirmation

on this machine.

 Additionally installed PM-F37-S002(McAfee Embedded Control software)

If you find version information under the “McAfee Solidifier” on the maintenance
menu- SECURITY, the McAfee Embedded Control software was installed on this
machine.

 OB Measurement setting
You can confirm the OB Measurement setting on SYSTEM1 screen from
maintenance menu.

3.3 Installation Procedure


Perform the software installation on the F37 referring to this and following pages

Do not turn the machine off / Do not remove the USB device during accessing the hard
disk and/or the USB device.
When you connect some USB device into the machine, disconnect them before update
work.

(1) Follow the instruction below to set the machine to the maintenance mode.
Turn the machine off.
Remove the right side cover and main chassis cover, and then change the maintenance Dip SW
as below.

When you need to replace with new HDD, Turn the circuit breaker off and then replace it.

(2) Connect USB portable Blu-ray drive to the machine.

(3) Insert the created software installation disk that is created at previous step in the connected USB
drive. Turn the machine on, and then hold down F11 key on the operation panel.

If you couldn’t get BIOS screen and machine is normally start-up, turn the
machine off after ultrasound image is displayed and then, repeat the instruction
from step (3).

(4) When you get following screen, enter ep5757 and then press [ (ENTER)] key on the
full-keyboard.

(5) The bootable device list appears. By operating arrow key on the full-keyboard, select connected
USB Blu-ray drive (in the figure below, this is [PIONEER BD-RW BDR-XD053.00]) from
displayed list, then press [ (ENTER)] key.

(6) The machine is automatically rebooted and following message is displayed on the monitor. Then,
press [ (ENTER)] key immediately.

If the machine doesn’t boot-up from installation disk and start-up normally, turn
the machine off after ultrasound image is displayed and then, repeat the
instruction from step (6).

(7) The following screen appears and the machine boot-up from installation disk.

(8) After two minutes passed, the following disk image burning tool “SIRBRE” is started from
installation disk. Put the check mark in the ”Shutdown system after install” box, and then
click on the [Install Disk Image] button.

(9) If the following window appears, click on the [OK] button to continue.

If the following window appears, click on the [OK] button to continue.

From this step, the displayed screen seems to stop, but DO NOT make any
operation until software installation is completed. While HDD access LED on the
operation panel is lighting and blinking, the installation is in progress.

(10) After around 2 or 3 minutes, the following screen appears. During installation process, the
installation status can be confirmed with progress bar at the bottom of screen.

Although it depends on the reading speed of connected USB Blu-ray drive, this process may take
up to fifteen minutes.

(11) After completion of whole installation process, the machine automatically turns off. Remove the
connect USB portable Blu-ray drive from the machine.

3.4 OS License Activation


Perform OS license activation after software installation with referring to the following instruction.

The machine booting-up just after software installation takes longer than usual DO
NOT turn the machine off during HDD access LED on the operation panel is lighting
and blinking.

(1) Turn the machine on. The following screens appear continually during the machine starting-up.

(2) The usual ultrasound image screen is not displayed after the machine started. Instead, Windows
OS screen is displayed as below.
By pressing “ID” key and “D” key on the operation panel keyboard somultaneously, Windows
desktop screen appears.

(3) Press “ID” key and “R” key on the operation panel keyboard somultaneously to open “Run”
window. Type control in the colum “Open:” and click on the [OK] button

(4) Click on the [System] icon on the displayed “All Control Panel Items” window.

(5) Click on the [View details in Windows Activation] under the “Windows Activation” on
the displayed window.

(6) Click on the [Activate] button on the displayed “Windows Activation” window.

(7) The activation process fails and following screen appears. Click on the [Close] button on it.

(8) The following window appears next. Click on the [Activate by phone] button to perform the
activation process by phone.

(9) The available phone number appears. Select nearest location from pull-down menu (in the
figure below, this is [Japan]), and then Click on the [Next] button.

(10) Then following window appears.


Make a call to the phone number that shown at ”Step 1”, and then put the install ID
number that shown at ”Step 2” on the phone following to the voice navigation. After that,
type the confirmation ID that you get over the phone from the voice navigation into the
boxes at ”Step 3”. Then Click on the [Activate] button.

(11) The following window appears after the activation process is completed. Click on the
[Close] button.

(12) Confirm that message “Windows is activated” is displayed on the Windows Activation
window, then click on the [OK] button.

(13) Click on the [x] button on each windows below to close them.

3.5 Confirmation of OS License Activation


After OS License activation, confirm the license activation status, and perform the additional work in
order to start the usual ultrasound application with referring to the following instruction.
(1) Double-Click on the “VAMT-Setting” icon on widnows desktop.

(2) Click on the [OK] button on “ACTIVATION WAITING” widnow.

(3) The “Windows Script Host” window appears. Confirm that ”License Status” is shown
as ”Licensed”, and then click on the [OK] button.

If the ”Notification” is shown in the “License Status”, Type no in the next


screen, and perform the OS license activation again.

(4) The message “Type (YES/NO) : “ appears on the “Windows Script Host” window. Type yes
and then press [ (ENTER)] key on the operation panel full-keyboard.

(5) After a few second passed, the window “Shut own Windows” appears. Click [OK] button on
it. The machine automatically turns the power off.

3.6 Additional configuration after software installation


Perform additional configuration after the software installation if necessary.
(1) Change the maintenance Dip SW as below in order to set the maintenance Dip SW on the
machine to default setting and then, put all removed covers back.

(2) Turn the machine on.

machine off during HDD access LED on the operation panel is lighting and
blinking.
If SOP-F37-69 (McAfee Embedded Control
software) was installed, the message shown at
right appears on screen, press [ENTER]
switch on the operation panel to continue the
booting-up process.
This message indicates that the PM-F37-S002
is not installed on the machine, you have to
re-install this at next step.

(3) In addition, the Initial Configuration setting


window appears. Select OB Measurement to
be used with referring to the section “System
Reset” on the service manual “Volume2:
Chapter 3 Service Information”, and then
click on the [Exit] button.

(4) The machien automalically restarts.


Enter the serial number of the machine in the column “Serial No.” on the Set-up screen with
referring to the section “Maintenance Menu” on the service manual “Volume2: Chapter 3
Service Information”.
Then if necessary, perform additional configuration and software/driver installation with
reference to the record that taken at step 3.2. Perform the additional work with referring to the
section “Maintenance menu” on the service manual “Volum2: Chapter3 Service Information” for
PC printer driver installation procedure, and SOP-F37-xx installation procedure for
PM-F37-S002 (McAfee Embedded Control software) installation procedure.
(5) After all configuration work is completed, reboot the machine manually.
Then please perform the overall operation check including network communication.
